Greetings friends. The other day I was thinking about something I really liked to play, dominoes. It is a game that has a lot of pieces with numerous numbers, as if they were the numbers of a dice but in a single flat and rectangular piece.
Well, I thought about that game and I said to myself that surely a keychain inspired by one of these pieces would look great, so I got to work.

Saludos amigos. El otro día estuve pensando en algo que me gustaba mucho jugar, dominó. Es un juego que tiene un montón de piezas con numerosos números, como si fuesen los números de un dado pero en una sola pieza plana y rectangular.
Pues bien, pensé en ese juego y me dije que seguramente un llavero inspirado en una de estas piezas seguro quedaría genial, así que puse manos a la obra.
Step by step
The materials I used for this craft were flexible dough, wire, paint and glue.
Paso a paso
Los materiales que utilicé para esta manualidad fueron masa flexible, alambre, pintura y pegamento.
The keychain is small, so to make this shape I simply rolled out the dough on the table and cut a small rectangle. I tried to round the edges and before it dried I put a small wire with a ring on it, so I could hang it from the keychain chain.
El llavero es pequeño, así que para hacer esta forma simplemente extendí la masa en la mesa y corté un pequeño rectángulo. Traté de redondear los bordes y antes que secara le coloqué un pequeño alambre con argolla, esto para poder colgarlo de la cadena de llavero.

To continue working the piece I had to wait for it to dry a little bit. Once this happened I took the rounded edge of one of the knitting needles and made the lines in the middle that these domino pieces have.
Para continuar trabajando la pieza tuve que esperar a que secara un poco. Una vez que sucedió esto tome el borde redondeado de una de las agujas de tejer y le hice las líneas a la mitad que tienen estas piezas de dominó.
Then I made the stitches. In this case I did six six on one side and one one on the other side, as you can see in the picture below.
I also made them with the rounded shape of one of the needles, making a slight pressure where I wanted to make the stitches. The idea was to make them with a bas-relief, instead of them sticking out, so the little holes made with the needle looked great.
Luego le hice los puntos. En este caso hice seis seis por un lado y uno uno por el otro lado, tal como pueden ver en la imagen de abajo.
También los hice con la forma redondeada de una de las agujas, haciendo una leve presión en dónde quería hacer los puntos. La idea era hacerlos con bajorrelieve, en lugar de que estos sobresalieran, así que los agujeritos hechos con la aguja quedaron geniales.

Again we had to wait for it to dry. This is very important when working with this material, since it is water-based and if it gets wet with paint, it can lose the shape it was given or, when it dries, it can crack the surface of the piece. I say this from experience.
Well, after it dried, I painted the entire surface of the piece with black paint. Although it was black on white, because of the type of material I had to use two coats of paint until it was completely black.
Nuevamente tocó esperar a que secara. Esto es muy importante a la hora de trabajar con este material, ya que es a base de agua y si se humedece con pintura, este puede perder la forma que se le había dado o, al secar, puede llegar a cuartear la superficie de la pieza. Esto lo digo por experiencia.
Pues bien, después de que secó, pinté toda la superficie de la pieza con pintura de color negro. Aunque era color negro sobre blanco, por el tipo del material tuve que usar dos capas de pintura hasta que quedó completamente negra.
As it is a neutral color, black would serve well as a base for the rest of the paints.
Al ser un color neutro, bien serviría el negro como base para el resto de las pinturas.
I spent some time thinking about how to paint it, but since it was a game I used to play a lot in Venezuela, I decided to paint the piece with the colors of the tricolor of the flag, that is, yellow, blue and red.
Of course I didn't paint it completely, because I wanted the black base color to show through. So I simply painted the piece and made grooves in the colored paint so that the black base color could be seen, looking like waves or something similar. Below you can see how it looked. After the paint dried, I used glue to protect the piece. In total two coats of glue.
Estuve durante un rato pensando cómo pintarlo, pero como era un juego que solía jugar mucho en Venezuela, me decidí por pintar la pieza con los colores del tricolor de la bandera, es decir, amarillo azul y rojo.
Claro que no lo pinté completamente, pues deseaba que se viera un poco el color negro de base. Por eso simplemente pinté la pieza e hice surcos en la pintura de color para que se viera el negro de base, quedando como ondas o algo parecido. Abajo pueden ver cómo quedó. Ya después de que secó la pintura, usé pegamento para proteger la pieza. En total dos capas de pegamento.
As soon as the glue dried, I took the chain from the keychain and hung it on the ring.

Tan pronto secó el pegamento, tomé la cadena del llavero y la colgué en la argolla.
