Making an eco-friendly Christhmas wreath

in Hive Diy2 months ago

Hello, community artisans and creators! Greetings! This is my entry for the Get Activated contest. This time, the theme was announced by the community as Christmas decoration. Christmas is a wonderful celebration around the world., with various traditions and cultures. Each country has its own unique way of celebrating.
Here in Norway, the days are short and cold and the nights are long and colder so decorating starts at the beginning of Advent with lights inside and outside, houses, bushes, trees and roads.

then special Christmas flowers, and decorations with natural materials, mostly in red and green. The most popular decoration for entrance doors is the wreath. So I made a Christmas wreath. Here\s how

Materials:
Small yew and cedar branches
some straight flexible sticks from garden bushes.
pistachio shells,
normal buttons
scissors
glue gun
thread thick and thin
small piece of red ribbon
few purple beads
few shiny beads
wooden berries
horse chestnuts collected from the forest
masking tape.
acorn.
a small bell

The long sticks from the bushes I found are very flexible I can bend them how I want. So I started making the ring/ round frame or base. weaving them together

I taped them together a few places to make sure they hold the shape

The ring is done, but i had to handle it carefully to maintain the round shape.

Started putting the greens fastening them with pieces of thick thread

Adjusted some places to keep the even round shape.

Here the green ring has taken form

Attached some horse chestnuts using a glue gun.

All the horse chestnuts are fixed in place.

Making flowers from pistachio shells
I tried different arrangements of the shells to find a nice design. then I used a button as a base and glued the shells to it. first, put some glue on the button and glue three shells to look like a flower.

Then glued a shiny bead in the center.

Glued those flowers, you can put how many you want I used just a few. I wanted to see if it needed more.

I wanted to add a little red color.

So I added red wooden beads that resemble holly berries.

Then some strings of small purple beads.

at the bottom i added a red flower made of silk. A bell is tied on with red ribbon. On the ribbon, I glued an acorn.

Nice and beautiful, made from natural material, and it will last long.
Thank you very much for reading my post. At first I thought the wreath was finished but then I decided to make more flowers from pistachio shells. And so I did. Now it looks more elegant and it was time to hang it in place.
