Hello Hive Community!
Today I would like to show you how I make home made playdoh & squeeze stress ball with household ingredients you most likely have on hand.
What is pretty neat about this is its one craft but with 2 different purposes. The kids can play with the dough and then they can use as a stess relief ball after.
This is what you will need to make the dough & stress relief ball:
- Cornstarch
- Hair conditioner ( any brand works, I like fruit scented Suave )
- Bowl
- Measuring cup
- Fork or spoon
6.. Latex balloon - Food coloring
These items are optional but recommended ( I will explain why during the process) :
Hand sanitizer
Vaseline
Ok so now once you have your items together, its time to start!
I must warn you, this is very messy but easy to clean up!
Here are the steps:
- Add 1/2 cup cornstarch to bowl
- Add 1/2 hair conditioner to bowl
- Mix & stir with fork or spoon
After mixing, the dough will be crumbly and sticky. This is where the vaseline & hand santizer comes in handy. Put a light layer of vaseline on your hands and then proceed to mix and knead dough with your hands. ( the vaseline helps with the dough from sticking to your hands)
- Spinkle a little cornstarch on table and knead the dough.
- Put dough back into bowl
- Add a few drops of food coloring ( I used pink for my first dough ball & green for the second)
- Add a little bit of hand sanitizer ( this helps mix the color into the dough) and continue to knead with your hands.
You made "knead" ( 😜) to add a little bit of conditioner or cornstarch as you continue kneading. Continue rolling dough until it resembles and feels like playdoh
Once you have formed the dough to your liking, it can now be used as playdoh!
Once you are ready to make a stress ball, simply roll the dough cylinder and open the balloon ( it helps if you have extra set of hands for this part) and put pieces of the dough into balloon
You can add as much as you want to fill balloon. Then simply tie the balloon closed. Now you have a squeeze stress ball!
