Siempre que tengo la oportunidad de crear manualidades me siento muy entusiasmada. Esta vez me tocó hacer un sombrero del Día de San Patricio que es una celebración más que todo de la comunidad irlandesa, sin embargo, por la globalización se ha comenzado a celebrar en muchos lugares.
Esta celebración viene de la conmemoración de la muerte de San Patricio el 17 de marzo, sin embargo esta tradición tiene un connotación rodeada de buena suerte, cerveza y el color verde. Muchas personas dicen que además de un día sagrado es un día de fortuna. En algunas partes de celebra con desfiles y se levanta la cuaresma y las personas pueden beber cervezas.

Whenever I have the opportunity to create crafts I feel very excited. This time I had to make a St. Patrick's Day hat, which is a celebration mostly from the Irish community, however, due to globalization it has started to be celebrated in many places.
This celebration comes from the commemoration of the death of St. Patrick on March 17, however this tradition has a connotation surrounded by good luck, beer and the color green. Many people say that besides a sacred day it is a day of fortune. In some parts of the country it is celebrated with parades and Lent is lifted and people can drink beers.

Lo primero que hago es la circunferencia del sombrero, para eso usaré un plato aproximadamente de 35cm, marco con un color y luego corto con un

A ese circulo le haré uno más pequeño dentro, de un aproximado de 18 cm, también lo corto, ahí irá mi cabeza.

Con un pedazo de cartulina, voy a hacer dos tiras de 13 cm x 60 cm de largo. Esta será la parte superior de mi sombrero. La pegué con pega blanca escolar, y la dejo secar el mayor tiempo posible.
Luego que esta seco, comienzo a pintar de verde todo el sombrero, con pintura al frío. También dejando secar cada capa para que me de un mejor acabado.
With a piece of cardstock, I am going to make two 13 cm x 60 cm long strips. This will be the top of my hat. I glue it with white school glue, and let it dry as long as possible.
After it is dry, I start painting the whole hat green, with cold paint. I also let each layer dry to give me a better finish.

Mientras espero entre cada capa, hago la decoración de mi sombrero.
Haré un trébol de tres hojas con un rollito de papel higiénico. Voy a cortar tres tiras sin romper la circunferencia, luego les hago una forma tipo corazón y las voy a unir al centro con silicón frío.
Una vez que este bien pegado voy a empezar a ponerle también pintura verde, para terminar mi trébol.
While I wait between each layer, I make the decoration for my hat.
I will make a three-leaf clover out of a roll of toilet paper. I'm going to cut three strips without breaking the circumference, then I'll make a heart shape and attach them to the center with cold silicone.
Once it's well glued I'm going to start putting green paint on it too, to finish my clover.
Como este proyecto debía ser en su mayoría con material reciclado hice una caldera para las monedas con un pedacito de cartulina negra, que reutilicé de un topper de torta. La dibujo y la recorto. Para darle color, hice un trébol con fieltro, y le pinté el centro con un color verde oscuro.
Since this project was to be mostly with recycled material I made a boiler for the coins with a little piece of black cardstock, which I reused from a cake topper. I drew it and cut it out. For color, I made a shamrock out of felt, and painted the center with a dark green color.
Pego ese trébol con silicón frío, y hago unas monedas en papel con tizas decolores, también las puedes pintar con colores.
Luego unifico todo pegándolo, y ya tengo mi calderita de monedas para el sombrero.
I glue the clover with cold silicone, and I make some coins on paper with colored chalk, you can also paint them with colors.
Then I glue everything together, and I have my little cauldron of coins for the hat.
Con cartulina corto una tira de 4cm para hacer el cinturón de mi sombrero, lo harás del largo de la circunferencia. Luego hacemos la hebilla con foami dorado escarchado. Todo lo voy pegando con silicón frío para asegurar que no se despegue.
With cardboard I cut a 4cm strip to make the belt of my hat, you will make it the length of the circumference. Then we make the buckle with gold frosted foami. I glue it all with cold silicone to make sure it doesn't come off.
Con fieltro verde navidad haré unas piernitas para incrustar un duende en mi sombrero, las dibujo a mano alzada, y hago unas medias con una trena blanca y unas botas con un retacito de fieltro negro. Todo esto lo hago sin medidas, porque ya tengo la idea que deseo.
With Christmas green felt I will make some little legs to embed an elf in my hat, I draw them freehand, and I make some stockings with a white braid and some boots with a small piece of black felt. I do all this without measurements, because I already have the idea I want.
Cuando ensamblo mis piernitas, agrego unas cintas fucsias para darle color a los pantalones y hacerlos más divertidos. Estas piernitas se van a sostener con un palito de altura por la parte posterior.
When I assemble my legs, I add some fuchsia ribbons to give color to the pants and make them more fun. These little legs are going to be held up with a tall stick in the back.
Empiezo a pegar todo en mi sombrero, y agrego unos cupcakes que recorté de una caja de maquillaje, también algunos limpiapipas y unos tréboles de fieltro en ellos.
Realicé unas monedas con foami escarchado para hacer una especie de camino de la parte de arriba del sombrero a la caldera.
I start gluing everything on my hat, and add some cupcakes that I cut out of a makeup box, also some pipe cleaners and some felt shamrocks on them.
I made some coins with frosted foami to make a sort of path from the top of the hat to the cauldron.
Mi sombrero quedó hermoso, estoy muy orgullosa. Es la primera vez que hago este tipo de trabajo, fue para un concurso, y me gané el premio.
Es muy poderoso lo que podemos crear con nuestras manos.

My hat turned out beautiful, I am very proud. It's the first time I do this kind of work, it was for a contest, and I won the prize.
