That morning, the air was still fresh, and the dew on the leaves had not completely disappeared. I walked leisurely towards a small pond near the house, intending to find something interesting to photograph. As I slowly walked along the edge of the pond, my eyes fell on something shining in the sunlight—a very neat, spiral-shaped spider web, hanging between two small branches.
In the middle of the web, an Argiope catenulata spider looked still and statue-like. Its black and yellow body stood out in stark contrast to the green background of the leaves. The pattern on its body was truly unique, like a work of art placed in nature.
I approached it carefully so as not to disturb it. This spider was quite large compared to other spiders I often encounter. It looked calm, perhaps waiting for its prey trapped in its web. When I looked closer, its web had a distinctive zigzag pattern called stabilimentum, which is said to function to attract prey or provide protection.
Not wanting to miss this moment, I took several photos with a macro lens. The challenge was to keep my hand steady because the spider was quite high. Several times the wind blew the net away, making me have to be patient waiting for the right moment.
