Today I explored a small forest not far from the village, a place I often visit to look for interesting macro objects. On the way, I came to a small river with a calm flow, surrounded by lush trees and leaves that were wet after last night's rain. While looking around, my eyes fell on something moving slowly on a rock near the water.

A Euploea mulciber butterfly! The color is so beautiful, with a predominance of brownish black and white spots on the wings. However, there was something strange—this butterfly seemed to be trying to flap its wings, but it wouldn't fly. I approached slowly, worried that he might be injured or tired.

I squatted down and tried to take a closer look. The wings appear intact, with no obvious tears or wounds. The butterfly did not appear to be injured, but remained in place, only moving slightly when I approached. I wondered, had it just emerged from its cocoon and wasn't ready to fly yet? Or maybe it was exposed to dew which made its wings wet and heavy?

I also took several photos, immortalizing this rare moment. The dim afternoon light adds a dramatic impression to the butterfly, as if it were contemplating on a rock.

NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
