My first ever photo for iNaturalist.
When I took it on a trip to Milovice (Czech Republic), I didn't even know there was such a thing as iNaturalist and similar servers.
It was also one of my first ever nature photos on a digital camera. I used to take photos on slides, but that's ancient history. Everything has faded and the records of when and where I took these photos are gone too.
The little camera without a viewfinder was cheap so I got one for my frequent trips to the countryside. I don't really know why.
It was a SONY DSC-W830 just a nice toy.
Since old love doesn't rust, within six months I got a DSLR and started shooting more.
I felt sorry for the photos from South America. They were just sitting on the disc and it was clear that nobody would ever see them, just me and a few friends.
The internet solved the problem quickly, I found iNaturalist.org in the early spring of 2019 and today I have 7,871 sightings there.
Mostly ordinary stuff, but every now and then there is a pearl from the Czech Republic or Africa or South America.
It's a lot of work, but it's worth it.
