This is the Parasa lepida caterpillar, which is a type of caterpillar that is quite interesting and has a striking appearance. This caterpillar is known for its unique body shape and bright color, and in my opinion this caterpillar is a species that is worth observing. Even though it looks interesting, I never thought of touching it. If you look at the small spines all over its body, you can be sure that if it is touched, it will cause irritation, itching and even burns, so avoiding them by not touching them is a good idea.
I found them on banana leaves a few days ago while cleaning the garden, in the garden I have a lot of banana trees which will soon be harvested, so I cleaned all the leaves so that the banana harvest would be maximum, so when I cut down some banana leaves I accidentally saw these beautiful caterpillars behind the banana leaves with a very calm attitude, and these caterpillars are very interesting because their body texture and color are very beautiful, so without thinking I took out my phone to capture some of their beautiful pictures.
as you can see in the picture where the Parasa lepida caterpillar is covered in sharp spines which function as a medium of defense from various threats and one of them is the threat of predators, well if you find them around you then never touch them because the spines on the body of the Parasa lepida caterpillar contain toxic chemical compounds which they will release when touched, if they come into contact with your skin then your skin will spontaneously feel like it is on fire, so be careful when you find them in the wild, garden or wherever.
