Observation results on Thursday 14 December 2023 located in North Aceh, Indonesia. This time I will share about a camouflaged grasshopper. The sentadu grasshopper or praying mantis is an insect that belongs to the order Mantodea.
Praying mantises in scientific language are often known as “Creobroter Gemmatus”.
In English, this insect is usually called praying mantis because its attitude often looks like it is praying. The word mantis comes from the Greek "Mantes" which means "prophet" or "fortune teller."
When our little love often played with the praying mantis to ask for directions, he knew where north, west, east and south were. So it is natural that this grasshopper is called a fortune telling grasshopper.
This praying mantis uses a camouflage method which allows an organism or object that is usually easily seen to become camouflaged or difficult to distinguish from the surrounding environment. This grasshopper camouflages by using leaves as its body, or what people call the body changing process.
