Cupido lacturnus butterfly

in Nature Observer8 days ago (edited)

Cupido lacturnus is a small butterfly that likes to play in the grass. This butterfly spends more time in the grass than in the flower garden. Like the one I found, it was in a wild grass garden. At that time it was sunbathing under the soft sunlight. This was the first time I found this butterfly spreading its wings.

The color of the butterfly is very interesting. The lower surface of its wings is gray decorated with several dark spots and two orange dots on the tips of the rear wings that resemble a pair of eyes. While the upper surface is brown decorated with white patterns on the edges. On the tips of its wings there are also two orange and black dots that resemble a pair of eyes that are ready to monitor the surroundings.

This butterfly is one of the butterflies that is easy to find, but its existence is often overlooked because it has a very small body and its color is not striking. The size of the butterfly is about the size of an adult's thumb, sometimes there are also ones that are even smaller. In Latin, this butterfly is called Everes lacturnus, namely a simple butterfly that comes from the lycaenids or blues family.
