Well to be fair, I'm already on the @Holozing bandwagon... when the project was announced last year, I was immediately intrigued by this attempt at creating a Pokémon style game on the hive blockchain.
I was intrigued by Spinterlands too, although I missed the boat on that one. By the time I was aware of what it was, the prices had exploded, and I could see no easy way of getting involved with the ecosystem
For Holozing however, I was able to get involved right from the start. Not only was it a great opportunity by @acidyo and co to be involved in an exciting new project, but I've also got a soft spot for the Pokémon Franchise... I never did play the video games as I wasn't a allowed a Gameboy when I was younger, but I did play the Trading Card Game that followed it!
Charizard: The 'must-have' card of that original set!
I've still got all my cards by the way, and I still dig them out and play with my partner fairly regularly... we do have some of the newer card sets, but the originals were best... not really a fan of all the overpowered Mega/EX cards now.
That first post explained how individuals could delegate HP to @zingtoken, and be rewarded in Zing Tokens. I immediately delegated so I could be involved with this from the beginning.
I was at rank #100 -ish for awhile, but other people have since overtaken me
All this started last October, and there have been semi-regular updates from the development team on the new creatures being created (so far there are the 4 starter monsters (plus corresponding evolutions) here and then the release of other creatures here, here, here, here and here
The 4 'starter' creatures (the 4 types: fire, grass, water and electric are an obvious influence from Pokémon!
Zingu - Ice Penguin - 'Cute' is not a word I like using very often, but Zingu is super cute, the evolution Zinguini looks awesome too!
On the whole though, it has been a slow process... this isn't a criticism by the way, I understand that there are a lot of things in the background that need to be sorted before this can go live, and I'm a firm believer that if anything is worth doing, then it is worth doing properly.
I certainly don't want to see it 'rushed' through and as fixing any mistakes made will be difficult and time consuming
Those updates do help to keep the hype going, and I love seeing all the new artwork for the various creatures. But I was relieved to see we finally received a bigger update in the form of Alpha Vials getting released
Opening these will provide you with the creatures we can use in the game (well whenever that goes live...) and the pre-release of these is a way of encouraging more investment into the game. At 20HBD each (or the equivalent value in Hive), they are not cheap... but plenty of people (have already starting buying them up, as of writing this, there are 838 vials already sold!
And if I want to keep investing in this project, and showing my support, then I guess I need to buy some too!
Being able to buy these with HBD is perfect, as I've got loads saved up on my account gathering interest... or I should say, I DID have loads. I had almost 700 HBD, but with the the crash in value of the Hive token, I had forgotten I had already taken most of that out, swapped it to approx 3500 Hive, and powered up my HP instead
oops!
I did have a little amount of HBD left, so I have bought myself 2 of the Vials (including one with a useful 31% discount:
...but, I think I could do with picking up a couple more!
I don't have anymore HBD left though, so I have made the difficult decision to 'Powerdown' my HP for the first time ever, as a member of this Hive community for 4 years, and powering up everything I can, this felt really weird!
As already mentioned however, I do want to support the project, and I see this as being another worthwhile investment. I'm only doing the powerdown for 1 week to get 304 HIVE, and which should enable me to get at least 2 more Vials, and go towards getting a third one
Is that enough? Oh I dunno, I might need to let it run for a second week before I cancel it!
All I need to do now is sit back and wait. I'll be keeping fingers crossed that hopefully the next 'big' update doesn't take a year to appear!

Appreciate the support, the process has been slower than expected indeed but we hope to be able to pick up pace in the near future. The cool thing is that it's easy to see on the contributions list who's making this project possible and who will hopefully see value back if they held over time, compared to other games that start out all strong and shiny but have a lot of "debt" towards big time investors.
Yep, no worries. I think we are all so used to things happening quickly, and getting quick results, that we have forgotten that there are very, very few genuine 'overnight successes'. There is often a lot of work over several years that goes into the background of setting up a new project, and it is a privilege for many of us to be able to be a part of this from almost the very start
I do remember appreciating the way you released this at the beginning, avoiding the usual generic 'air drop' to everyone, and instead giving people the option to 'opt in' and make the choice to invest in the game themselves... so whether we each have a big stake or a small stake, it helps to give us a sense of ownership in this :-)
Thanks for the update, I am keen on this game too, keep the posts coming I need to stay up to date with what's happening. I am off to see if I can wrangle up some HBD for some alpha vials. I suppose I should be aiming for 4 if there is 4 elements.

To be fair, the last few months have been a little quiet, so I've zoned out and missed a few posts too. From what I understand, the vials will give you a starter creature, and you'll only need one to play the game, and that 1 creature will allow you to catch 'wild' ones
Those 4 starters are only going to appear in the vials, and not in the 'wild', so if you want to collect all of them, you'll need at least 4 vials (but with random odds I guess you'll need a few more!) Like any collecting game, the more you buy, the more chances to get more creatures, and to also increase the chances of getting creatures with better stats

I'm rather late to join the project but bought a Vial once it was released. This seems to be a good game based on the design and development plans.
You are still early compared to many, especially if this project takes off like we all hope it will!
Time will tell on the gameplay side, but I think it's definitely a project worthy of investment... are you planning to pick up more Vials?
