Greetings holo-friends. Today I want to share with you another of my fan art drawings inspired by one of the creatures from the video game Holozing. This time I don't bring you a fantastic story as usual, but rather some anecdotes and events that happened during the process of creating this female version of the character Miu.
Saludos holo-amigos. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes otro de mis dibujos fan art inspirado en una de las criaturas del videojuego Holozing. En esta ocasión no les traigo una historia fantástica como de costumbre, sino más bien algunas anécdotas y sucesos que ocurrieron durante el proceso de creación de esta versión femenina del personaje Miu.
It turns out that for the background of the drawing I had planned to use a template with a design similar to the one shown in the finish, but in the end I gave up on that idea, since I didn't like the way it looked. So I had to draw each of the footprints in different sizes and positions all over the background. Luckily, the drawing tool has an option to move, rotate and resize sketches.
The other event happened with the eyes, which I tried with a torn design with thin features, but it didn't quite fit, so I changed it to a traditional design, which is based on an anime series I'm watching. But it wasn't just the design; I was so intent on making the crystallized eye effect that I lost track of time. It was a real trial and error, one of the things I could never have done with the traditional drawing style on paper.
Resulta ser que para el fondo del dibujo tenía pensado utilizar una plantilla con un diseño similar al que les muestro en el acabado, pero al final desistí de esa idea, ya que no me gustaba cómo se veía. Fue así como tuve que dibujar cada una de las huellas en diferentes tamaños y posiciones por todo el fondo. Por suerte, la herramienta de dibujo cuenta con una opción que permite mover, rotar y redimensionar bocetos.
El otro suceso ocurrió con los ojos, los cuales probé con un diseño rasgado con características finas, pero no terminaba de cuadrar, así que lo cambié por un diseño tradicional, el cual está basado en una serie anime que estoy viendo. Pero no fue solo el diseño; me empeñé tanto en hacer el efecto cristalizado de los ojos que perdí la noción del tiempo. Fue una verdadera prueba y error, una de las cosas que jamás podría haber hecho con el estilo de dibujo tradicional sobre papel.
Step by step // Paso a paso
I started creating the guide sketch and little by little I added some important features to it in order to have an idea of the space it would occupy on the canvas. I must say that the sketch ends up looking a lot like a Japanese oni, but at least it gives an idea of what I was thinking at the time.
Empecé creando el boceto guía y poco a poco le fui agregando algunas características importantes para así tener una idea del espacio que ocuparía en el lienzo. Debo decir que el boceto termina pareciéndose mucho a un oni japonés, pero al menos da a entender la idea de lo que estaba pensando en ese momento.

Using the sketch as a guide, I started drawing the line art, starting with the outline of the head, the hair and the cat ears. At first, the hair was a little difficult, but since I always use the same style for the hair, it became easier. Next, I added the mouth, nose and eyes. I made the eyes very big, anime style, surrounded by very thick eyelashes, like the cat girls in those series. Then I moved on to the body and clothes, which are in a relaxed position, with hands forward and covered with a dress that I tried to make look like a school uniform, but ended up being casual clothes.
Utilizando el boceto como guía, empecé a dibujar el line art, comenzando por el contorno de la cabeza, el cabello y las orejas de gato. Al principio, el cabello se me dificultaba un poco, pero como siempre utilizo el mismo estilo para el pelo, ya se me hace más fácil. Seguidamente, agregué la boca, nariz y ojos. Los ojos los hice bien grandes, estilo anime, rodeados de unas pestañas bien tupidas, como suelen ser los de las chicas gato en esas series. Luego pasé al cuerpo y a la ropa, la cual está en una posición relajada, con las manos hacia adelante y cubierta con un vestido que intenté que se pareciera a un uniforme escolar, pero terminó siendo ropa casual.

With the girl's body finished, I went on to draw the background in a new layer so I could place some of the prints on the back without having to draw them halfway. And well, this part I already realized at the beginning; here I spent several hours placing each print in its place with different sizes and positions to give it a more natural look.
Con el cuerpo de la chica terminado, pasé a dibujar el fondo en una nueva capa para así colocar algunas de las huellas por detrás sin tener que dibujarlas a medias. Y bueno, esta parte ya me di cuenta al inicio; aquí pasé varias horas colocando cada huella en su lugar con diferentes tamaños y posiciones para darle un aspecto más natural.

To color my drawing, I used a scale of approximately 6 shades of gray, two shades of black and two shades of dark brown. Thanks to this, after much trial and error, I was able to contrast the color of the hair, ears and clothes. I also colored the footprints in the background, leaving some dark and the others light to give a sense of depth. Another thing I gave color to was the flower in her hair, which until the last moment was going to be either a buckle or a bow. That's why during the creation of the line art you will see an empty space in that part of the drawing.
Para dar color a mi dibujo, utilicé una escala de aproximadamente 6 tonos de gris, dos tonos de negro y dos tonos de marrón oscuro. Gracias a ello, luego de mucha prueba y error, logré contrastar el color del cabello, orejas y ropa. También di color a las huellas del fondo, dejando algunas oscuras y las demás claras para dar una sensación de profundidad. Otra cosa a la que le di color fue a la flor que lleva en el pelo, la cual hasta último momento iba a ser o una hebilla o un lazo. Es por eso que durante la creación del line art podrán ver un espacio vacío en esa parte del dibujo.

Next, I used a brush called a sharp-tipped feather brush to give side lighting to each hairline, bringing it to life. Then, with the simple airbrush, I lit the upper areas of each region of the drawing and then gave a layer of shadows to the opposite places.
A continuación, empleé un pincel llamado pluma de punta aguda para dar iluminación lateral a cada línea de pelo, aportándole vida. Luego, con el aerógrafo simple, iluminé las zonas superiores de cada región del dibujo para luego dar una capa de sombras a los lugares opuestos.

To finish, I import the image into my smartphone gallery and use the editing tools to remaster and accentuate the colors of the image, obtaining a much more beautiful finish with vivid colors. Colors that highlight the grainy effect I gave to the ears and the hair on the back, using a special brush that creates this effect.
Para finalizar, importo la imagen en la galería de mi smartphone y utilizo las herramientas de edición para remasterizar y acentuar los colores de la imagen, obteniendo un acabado mucho más bello y con colores vivos. Colores que resaltan el efecto granulado que le di a las orejas y al pelo de la espalda, utilizando un pincel especial que crea este efecto.
