I haven't been active on Hive for quite some time, but I feel it's time to come back. I noticed there's a new game, and I really love its community. There are some really great people there.
I joined the Holozing Discord group and saw the characters that could be drawn in the 'Resources' channel. There aren't too many character options yet, but I believe they'll add more soon.
Recently, I've been spending a lot of time drawing skies and lightning, so I chose to draw the Healer of Light. Maybe I'll draw other characters soon. I've actually noticed that I've started to prefer drawing male characters more than female characters lately
I sketched my first draft on my tablet using Procreate while lounging in front of the TV. I admit it's a quick and ugly sketch you see here :D However, I always start with such a quick sketch as a starting point. It helps me determine the atmosphere and pose. This sketch turned out a bit more chaotic than usual because I'm not yet very familiar with Procreate. I usually draw on my Wacom Cintiq and Photoshop on my computer. After this stage, I completed the rest of the drawing in Photoshop.
As I started to clean up the ugly sketch, I placed a reference image in front of me. There are programs like Pureref for references, but I prefer to see a single reference up close in the working file. I have to confess, I was also watching a Korean drama on the second screen :D
At this stage, I brought the drawing to a simple, understandable sketch, and then added the base colors. Since I wanted to see the face in detail, I started detailing the face during the base color stage.
I decided to completely change the background color to use more vibrant colors and grab more attention to the face. Someone asked me on the Discord server how I did the lighting, so I'll explain it briefly here too. First, I drew the shape with one of Photoshop's basic brushes, preferring to use white. Then, I copied the lightning I drew and painted it yellow. I placed this yellow lightning under the white layer and added the Gaussian blur effect. Then, I changed the layer option of the white I used on top to 'Color Dodge'
