Glimmo is back in the ring in my FanArts, this time with some really cool glasses!
This time it's one of those FanArts that I feel more than proud of. I think it's quite cute and eye-catching. Glimmo is one of the most recent and cute creatures, as well as its evolution that looks much more rustic. From this round of release there's also Cinella and Cinelara, which are more insect-like.
I love the result. Since I started digital drawing I've always gotten along better with shadows and solid colors. I hadn't practiced this style for a while, but I love it. One of the details that was like the Glow Up, or the cherry on the cake, was the lightning. I really imagine Glimmo as a Ground-type Holo, but with the ability to create attacks that involve Lightning. Cool!
Let's quickly see Drawing process:
To create this illustration I used Holozing's original art and a photo from Pinterest as a reference. I'm actually getting used to using references. I used to feel a bit bad when I did it, but no, I've understood that we're not on the same page. I drew a quick sketch to more or less establish Glimmo's pose, then I moved on to a clean outline that I've alternated with the use of an eraser.
Continuing, I established the base colors using the color palette of the original creature. I placed shadows, details, and some lines in white and yellow tones to create the light. Unlike the lights I often make in my illustrations, these lights are solid with a hard brush and not blurred.
For the background, I used a star brush and added a motion effect in combination with a Gaussian effect. Finally, I added the lightning and a light effect in a luminosity layer with a soft airbrush in two tones.
