Is any team better than the 🔥Fire Splinter🔥 in Melee Matchups?!?
Read past the battle breakdown to see my thoughts on the FIRE splinter and some ideas for the future!
Whenever I get a melee only matchup I get excitement building up in my chest since I know I have an undefeated strategy in high mana battles that I can't wait to put into practice again and again!
This works best in Bronze and Silver leagues since I have not tried it out in Gold since the level caps are so much higher the strategy may not work.
For Todays Showdown Battle - The Rules:
- Max 99 Mana
- No Life, Death or Dragon Splinters
- Stampede - trample can trigger multiple times
- Up Close & Personal - only melee monsters can be used
As I mentioned previously the strategy was to take advantage of multiple demoralization to reduce my opponents to ashes!
This began with the summoner Tarsa a key component powering up my team.
Now for the 2 tactics that really make this team unbeatable!
- Demoralize
- Shield
First lets talk about the 2 demoralize cards I would be using.
Now you may have noticed that both of these cannot attack from the back-row in the ruleset and besides their ability will not have any effect.
Why would I use up two back-row spots on cards that don't deal any damage?
Because of SHIELD
If I could guarantee that all attacks would be directed at shield monsters, that means with the -2 melee from demoralize would make and 3 melee damage monster deal no damage to my shield monsters!
How could I make sure attacks went at my shield monsters
The tank had to have shield thats for sure
But then with abilities like sneak and opportunity, I would need a monster right at the rear that had the lowest health on my team
Having just 3 health I could use the Antiod Platoon Perfectly in this strategy.
Now for the rest of my team I just wanted to make sure I chose cards with more than three health.
I usually would go with
and
but this time I wanted to have some fun and went with Grum Flameblade instead of Radiated Brute even though I didn't think my opponent could get through my Living Lava.
This completed my unstoppable team and unless my opponent had many 4+ melee damage dealers I knew I would be fine.
THE BATTLE
As expected my opponent did not have any 4+ melee damage dealing monsters and I knew I had nothing to worry about.
You can see they do not have any monster with above 1 melee damage left over after my demoralization!
I was set up for a PERFECT WIN!
They are extremely rare, A perfect win is when your team doesn't lose a single member but also takes no damage
- Since I only had 2 damage dealers the battle was a long process knocking down the other teams members.
- By the start of Round 8 I had only taken down one member of the opponents teams as I missed a few hits due to speed difference.
- The end of Round 13 came around and there was just one man left.
- How many misses would I have? How long could the Serpent of Eld survive the inevitable?
- It took until the end of Round 17 but it was finally over, the PERFECT WIN I have so rarely achieved.

THE FIRE SPLINTER
What makes the Fire splinter so great?
For me it comes down to shear hard hitting, there is nothing like the feeling of being able to hit hard and deal major damage.
- In low leagues there's Tarsa for high melee damage output.
- In high leagues there's Yodin Zaku with high ranged damage with blast for extra hard hits.
For me since I play in lower leagues I find there is a lot of variability, you can go for an opportunity team, a heavy sneak team, or even a combo of some fast ranged damage along with a strong tank.
The Introduction of Grum Flameblade
With his ability to defend against magic teams I believe gives an opportunity to see more melee teams in high leagues with Tarsa or the summoner Plado Emberstorm
Who provides a slightly better advantage for the Fire team as the speed boost can be a difference maker.
One type of card that I'm not sure will ever exist but would be perfect for the Fire splinter would be a melee snipe card which could be safe from opponent snipes although this idea might be too powerful hence why we tend to see opportunity used.
Are all Fire splinter cards just Raging Angered Beasts?
We tend to see a trend with the fire splinter of this anger and crazed emotion.
There are a few cards in the splinter that shed this although in theory they could grow to become fearsome Fire splinter cards in the future.
One example is Talia Firestorm
She has more of an innocent look and childlike although one could imagine years down the line she could be one of the most scary cards in the Fire Splinter if they ever did a rerelease of future versions of the cards which I think could be an awesome set release.
It could be called the Futures set.
Lore would shape the futures set release as we follow character growth.
Let me know some other cards that you'd like to see in a futures set that could see growth into another card!
