I will not set myself deadlines
Even if you don't reach deadlines it is good practice to set something to aim for.
Obviously we don't know the reason why the guy left the team but it isn't a great sign. I hope that the project comes to life but if it doesn't I understand that too, loads of things don't work as planned
Meanwhile there is a clear statement on this in the comments.
