Hello, Summoner! How’s your crypto wallet today? Still thick or starting to resemble a wafer thin, fragile thing blown by the wind? Well, while we ride the crypto price roller coaster, I’ve got something more exciting to talk about—my latest battle in Splinterlands!
Today, I want to talk about a monster that may not look terrifying but has an attack that can make opponents panic. This monster is silently deadly, like that quiet friend who suddenly becomes a debate champion in your WhatsApp group. And that’s Thanalorian Blade! An Earth element monster with Opportunity and Execute abilities.
On paper, its melee attack seems average. Nothing special. But that’s where the trap lies! As soon as the opponent is left with 2 HP, Execute kicks in, taking them out brutally. It's like waiting for a flash sale, and suddenly everything is gone in a matter of seconds!
Battle in Modern Ranked
With the Close Range and Even Stevens ruleset, and a mana cap of 55 points, I went with the Earth element and formed this team:
My Team:
- Summoner: Helios Matriarch (Level 5) – +1 Speed, +1 Gladius card.
- Djinn Chwala (Level 4) – Thorns, Enrage.
- Quora Towershead (Level 3) – Bloodlust, Heal and Immunity.
- Goblin Psychic (Level 2) – Tank Heal, Affliction.
- Thanalorian Blade (Level 2) – Opportunity, Execute.
- Dhampir Infiltrator (Level 5) – Sneak, Double Strike, and Cripple.
- Quilliun Legionary (Level 2) – Close Range, Thorns.
Opponent's Team:
- Summoner: Kelya Frendul (Level 2) – +1 Speed, +1 Armor.
- Diemonshark (Level 2) – Trample.
- Pallus (Level 1) – Flying, Reach.
- Djinn Oshannus (Level 1) – Void.
- Captain Fellblade (Level 1) – Sneak.
- Warborn Shaman (Level 1) – Void Armor.
- Deeplurker (Level 3) – Opportunity.
Battle Recap:
Round 1
The battle begins! Djinn Oshannus attacks Djinn Chwala, activating Enrage—kind of like when someone insults you, and you get more motivated to glow up! Captain Fellblade tries to flex its skills on Quilliun Legionary, but ends up taking damage from Thorns. Then, a flurry of attacks takes down Diemonshark by the end of the round. Oops, Kelya, your tank is already gone!
Round 2
Now, it’s Pallus’ turn, but it looks like he's just a punching bag. Meanwhile, Captain Fellblade, worn out from the Thorns attacks, finally gets hit by Execute from Thanalorian Blade. It’s like playing a game with low health, and suddenly someone shoots you from behind. That’s how it feels!
Round 3
Djinn Chwala finishes off Pallus, while Thanalorian Blade gets to work again, taking out Deeplurker. This time, the Execute effect really leaves the opponent powerless! On the other hand, Goblin Psychic is busy acting as the team medic, making sure Quora Towershead stays alive and dominates the arena.
Round 4
Only Djinn Oshannus is left, and it seems resigned. With its Void ability, it tries to hang on, but Thanalorian Blade comes in like an executioner in a mafia movie: fast, ruthless, and straight to the point! Boom! Djinn Oshannus falls!
Round 5
Now, there’s only the Warborn Shaman left. With three of my monsters still healthy, it’s clear who the winner is. The ending? It's like a soccer match where one team is already 5-0 up, but the referee still lets the game continue. There’s no hope left!

Lessons Learned from This Battle:
Maximizing Execute: Thanalorian Blade proved to be highly effective in this strategy. The Execute ability worked perfectly, finishing off enemies left with only 2 Health. This monster may seem unthreatening, but in the right situation, it becomes a lethal executioner.
Consistent Healing: Goblin Psychic played a crucial role in my team's defense, especially in keeping Djinn Chwala and Quora Towershead alive for a longer duration.
Combining Opportunity and Thorns: Thanalorian Blade and Djinn Chwala worked well together. While Chwala drew enemy attacks with Thorns, Thanalorian Blade could sweep through opponents using Execute.
Choosing the Right Summoner: Helios Matriarch’s didn’t have a major impact in this battle, though the +1 speed boost was still useful for monsters like Dhampir Infiltrator. Perhaps a different summoner could have been more effective.
Kelya Frendul is solid, but armor isn’t enough to win.Unfortunately, Execute making the opponent’s defense strategy ineffective.
Conclusion:
If there’s one thing we can learn from this battle, it’s this: never underestimate the Thanalorian Blade! This monster is like a ninja, sneaking up and executing opponents before they even realize what happened. If you need a quick executioner in your team, Thanalorian Blade is the right choice!
So, are you ready to try this card? Or still traumatized by its sudden attacks? 😆
