Own your own soccer field and charge people to attend? A player vs. player crypto soccer game? Make money winning, make money cheering for the right team, and make money owning a stadium that people attend. This sounds like a dream come true. It sounds like the final evolution of esports.
Monkey Ball is ready to launch and is going to be on the Solana blockchain. I was immediately intrigued by a play2earn game on this blockchain that was sports-related. There is a rabid following for soccer games throughout the world and for some reason, APE/Monkey NFT's are really popular too.
So how does it work?
Monkey ball is a soccer game that is infused within the blockchain. Unfortunately, it looks like it's turn-based, not live-action, which I personally cannnot even imagine what the gameplay will feel like. Since the game hasn't officially released yet, I can only share information that the developers have summarized in their official channels.
It's developed by Playtika, (an established Nasdaq listed gaming company), using the Unity game engine, the perfect platform for mobile gaming. Each team consists of four monkeys against another four monkeys. A striker, defender, midfielder and goalie. You play each game in a stadium owned by a player and watched by players. I think this is the most interesting part. The in game currency is monkey bucks and players can also govern with the DAO token ($score).
Each monkey has its own stats and is suited best for one position on the field. You are able to train each monkey to get better stats, but like an RPG game, you don't want to choose the wrong class for the job. There are different modes of play and you can choose to either play your entire team, or play a single monkey with 3 other people on a team vs. the other 4 monkey team.
After the game is finished the MonkeyBucks $MBS is split 75% to the winning team, 15% to the stadium and 10% to the spectators. This can be really huge for stadium owners as it seems like a really passive way to make good income. There will be a limited amount of stadium NFT's when it launches and I assume they will go really fast (like splinterlands land plots did).
Each monkey NFT will be unique at a fixed price of 2 Solana. Luckily SOL went down a lot as of this article, so each monkey will "only" cost..............$400. I'm guessing if you want to buy a whole team you need 4 monkeys at the price of a running used car. I'm going to speculate now that a stadium will cost at least $10,000usd when they launch mid 2022.
Not financial advice, but I hope to load up on some of their in game currency when it launches officially, especially if it has decent gameplay.
