I know it has been a while since @ninaeatshere hunted me down on hivefest and challenged me to write about my tattoo design at the tattoo community. - But now I finally found the time to get back to that challenge.
Not only @ninaeatshere but also @bil.prag caught a picture with my tattoo clearly on it, so now I ow you a story to this design :)

Sé que ha pasado un buen tiempo desde que @ninaeatshere me persiguió en hivefest y me retó a escribir sobre mi diseño de tatuaje en la comunidad de tatuajes. - Pero ahora finalmente encontré el tiempo para hacerlo.
No solo @ninaeatshere sino también @bil.prag tomaron una foto con mi tatuaje claramente, así que ahora les debo una historia sobre este diseño :)

First of all, where did I get it?! - Primero, ¿de dónde lo conseguí?
For the design, I searched for a compass, clock, and anchor on pinterest to get some inspiration and then I drew it all together to the final one myself. As I already wanted it for a long time, I had some years to think about it and design it.
These are some of the examples from where I got my inspiration from:
Para el diseño, busqué una brújula, un reloj y un ancla en Pinterest para tener un poco de inspiracion y luego lo junté todo haciendo mi diseño yo mismo. Como ya lo quería desde hacía mucho tiempo, tuve algunos años para pensarlo y diseñarlo.
Estos son algunos de los ejemplos de donde me inspiré:
Normally I only had one guy that I trusted enough to do a tattoo on me. He lives in Cuernavaca, Mexico and I don´t go there often. This is also the place where I did my first two tattoos, so in 2016 I had planned to go again while visiting my aunt and do this design.
But then a friend of hers, a doctor, asked me to donate blood for a patient who urgently needed my blood type for an operation (I am blood type 0). They didn´t have any left and she needed the operation to survive. - How could I say no to that?! It was THE Chance to save a life and also help the doctor who once saved mine... but that's another story 😄
Long story short... I couldn't get my tattoo because with a freshly done tattoo in Mexico, you are not allowed to donate blood anymore and the next day I was flying to Costa Rica...
We travel through time and all of a sudden are in 2023 in Thailand. I am on vacation with my now wife, and we see a lot of great tattoo artists. So I spontaneously decide to do it right there in Ao Nang, Krabi, one day before flying back home.
Normalmente solo hay un chico en quien confiaba lo suficiente como para hacerme un tatuaje. Él vive en Cuernavaca, México y no voy allí con frecuencia. Este es también el lugar donde hice mis dos primeros tatuajes, por lo que en 2016 tenía planeado ir nuevamente hacer este diseño mientras visitaba a mi tía.
Pero entonces un amigo suya, médico, me pidió que donara sangre para un paciente que necesitaba urgentemente mi tipo de sangre para una operación (soy tipo de sangre 0). No les quedaba nada y ella necesitaba la operación para sobrevivir. - ¡¿Cómo podría decir que no a eso?! Fue LA Oportunidad de salvar una vida y también ayudar al médico que una vez salvó la mía... pero esa es otra historia 😄
En fin... No pude hacerme el tatuaje porque con un tatuaje recién hecho en México ya no se permite donar sangre y al día siguiente ya volaba a Costa Rica...
Asi que viajamos en el tiempo y de repente nos encontramos en 2023 en Tailandia. Estoy de vacaciones con mi esposa y vemos a muchos tatuadores geniales. Así que espontáneamente decido hacerlo allí mismo, en Ao Nang, Krabi, un día antes de volar de regreso a casa.
What meaning does this tattoo have for me? - ¿Qué significado tiene este tatuaje para mí?
As I said already for me it was important to have a compass, a clock, and an anchor within the design.
Compass: As a traveler and nomadsoul I have been to many places all over the world. I have been traveling for a long time in my life and learned that when you move around a lot and you don't have your home, your friends, or things that give you orientation, you have to be your own compass. It is always important to not lose orientation because otherwise, it's easy to lose yourself on the trip.
-> So the compass reminds me to be myself, do the right thing, and stay on track towards the goals I´ve set myself.
Clock: I tend to be a little bit impatient, especially if I like something or think it is very important. The clock reminds me that everything in life has its time. Sometimes it's good to higher the pace, but sometimes it's good to take a break and take the time.
-> The clock reminds me to be aware of the right timing and sometimes lower the pace. In combination with the compass, it's the right direction with the right pace/timing.
Anchor: The anchor is an insider symbol for my wife and me. Since I know her I feel like she is the anchor in my life. Before I was wandering around traveling a lot, not really staying anywhere for long, always going on adventures. When I met her I put out the anchor of my ship and learned how to settle down, take big responsibilities for others, and feel grounded.
-> When my adventure soul sets too big goals or the clock overpaces the anchor helps me to stay calm and grounded.
Como ya les conté, para mí era importante tener una brújula, un reloj y un ancla dentro del diseño.
Brújula: Como viajera y alma nómada, he estado en muchos lugares del mundo. Llevo mucho tiempo viajando en mi vida y aprendí que cuando te mueves mucho y no tienes tu casa, tus amigos o cosas que te orienten, tienes que ser tu propia brújula. Siempre es importante no perder la orientación porque si no lo tienes, es fácil perderse en el viaje.
-> Entonces la brújula me recuerda a que debo ser yo misma, hacer lo correcto y mantener el rumbo hacia las metas que me he fijado.
Reloj: Tiendo a ser un poco impaciente, especialmente si algo me gusta o creo que es muy importante. El reloj me recuerda que todo en la vida tiene su tiempo. A veces es bueno acelerar el ritmo, pero a veces es bueno tomarse un descanso y el tiempo.
-> El reloj me recuerda que debo ser consciente del momento adecuado y, en ocasiones, bajar el ritmo. En combinación con la brújula, es la dirección correcta con el ritmo y el momento adecuado.
Ancla: El ancla es un símbolo entre mi esposa y mí. Desde que la conozco siento que ella es el ancla de mi vida. Antes deambulaba mucho, viajaba mucho, no me quedaba mucho tiempo en ningún lugar y con nadie.. y siempre iba de aventuras. Cuando la conocí, levé el ancla de mi barco y aprendí a sentar cabeza, asumir grandes responsabilidades por los demás y sentirme establecida.
-> Cuando mi alma aventurera se fija en metas demasiado grandes o el reloj se pasa de la raya me ayuda a mantener la calma y los pies en la tierra.

Excelente estos tatuajes que has elegido. La brújula para siempre estar orientados y no perder nuestro Norte, el reloj que mide el tiempo, muy importante, es lo mas preciado que tenemos para lograr nuestras metas, sanar y pensar para la toma de decisiones. Veo los diseños de pinterest y me haces pensar en los que tengo guardado desde hace años, esperando a que me atreva jajaja al menos me das esperanzas de que, cuando uno siente que el momento ha llegado, no duda en hacerlo.
Creo que la oportunidad de haber donado sangre en una circunstancia tan extrema vale más que mil tatuajes, tienes toda la razón, no había ni que pensarlo. Damos y recibimos, siendo felices con ello.
Uff aunque tatuarse así de repente, durante un viaje, me costaría jajaja pero bueno, estoy hablando con la señorita aventurera, como no iba a ser así, al ultimo momento. Aunque estoy segura que si lo hiciste es porque todo apuntaba a ser confiable.

Para mi siempre hay duda. La duda siempre esta en todo lo que piensas y lo que haces. Tu misma decides cuando ha llegado el momento para dejarlo en un lado y hacerlo sin arrepentimientos. 😘
hmm creo que en ningun lugar estaba 100% segura de que eran confiables xD La primera vez en México lancé una moneda para decidir si lo haré o no. Como si el destino estuviera decidiendo (yo todavía era muy joven y evitaba las grandes decisiones :D). El tipo me dió un Tequila shot y empezó... como quedó bueno el tatuaje volví con el para el segundo 😅... pero eso es otra historia que primero debes q ganarte.
Naaa pero el tipo en Tailandia si era buena onda. Chequé su perfil en Insta y su trabajo de otros diseños. Parecia confiable 🤓 - y lo hizo bien! 👍 - solo faltaba una pequeña linea como puedes ver en la foto, lo corregí 5 min despues y quedó perfecto.
Creo que al final todos los diseños tienen algun significado para nosotros. Da igual si lo pensamos antes, si le damos significado activamente o si lo decidimos subconcientemente.. de todas formas nos da algo cuando lo vemos - una memoria, un valor, una characteristica, la connecion a una persona, una emocion... Me gustaría ver tu collection de Pinterest algun dia ;)

I think this should be called a tattoo “self hunt”. But it turned out cooler than you hear.
I loved the meaning of the tattoo and in how they played with the lines and the overall design, as the result is great.
Having something that is our grounding wire, at our fingertips (literally) was a great and wise decision.

Apprearently many people don´t reflect so much on their own designs and what connects them to it. So they in some way hunt down their story and values. :)
This is beautiful, and its cool that it has meaning. I also want a tattoo with a meaning on it. But I can't get a tattoo yet. This is one my bucket list and who knows when will I get mine. Anyways, the design is really cool, its beautifully done!

I'm actually thinking of this, it's just that during my teens, I used to draw this on my finger, it looks really cool for me back then. So I want to have this here but as a permanent tattoo because of a good memories I have with it 🤭🤭. By the way I just draw this using my pen so its not the real thing yet, heheh

Did you know that in profiling/reading body language, the middle finger is the finger of self-expression? Of course, this also counts for the fuck you sign... but also in general if you touch him or focus on him in a certain situation, you are usually in the design of the situation in which you have influence.
Eyy, thank you hehe. I didn't know about that sf expression but now thay I know, I want this more on my middle finger 🤩🤩. I don't think of it as "fvck you" but more on a a happy memories with it. And I could also add now that self express 🤩🤩✨

I kept getting temporary ones that would last up to 2-3 months, but no permanent ones so far. Saving for a full arm tattoo where it will be written my whole story so far, but these get really expensive so it will take a while :)
Cool, so you are playing with it a while already! I like full arm - what style are you thinking of? my wife got half sleeve in Bali in July.. she is thinking of completing it. At first she also wanted her story inside, but also super expensive!! then we decided to do the design together and implement important milestones, persons and characteristics for her in mandala /maori style. I like it a lot :)
Illustrative or Realistic Tattoo Style.. although I love those with a bit of geometry too :)

I am not sure I would be that brave to have my tattoo in a different country just because I want to know the artist very well and make sure I can keep in touch with him as it will obviously need more sessions until getting the tattoo completed.

In that case we did know the artist a little bit, as he was a friend of her friend 😀 she did want to do the whole arm in 2 days but had to stop after halftime (6hrs)... cause it was becoming painful... so I guess the next sessions will be at another place and time oooor we have to get back to bail one day: :D
