Lo que ese libro me dejó:
Me fascina esta nueva iniciativa (19) de nuestra amiga @damarysvibra en esta comunidad de #holos-lotus. Pues mi mundo gira alrededor de los libros y la literatura en todas sus formas y manifestaciones. Ah, disculpen que no les haya saludado previamente, es que esta oportunidad de compartirles" lo que ese libro me dejó", me emociona y, al mismo tiempo, me pone en una tremenda encrucijada. De todas formas, aquí voy.
"The Lord Jim" de Joseph Conrad.
He leído mucho, desde la Biblia, hasta el periódico local. Todas las lecturas han ido configurando mi conducta y pensamiento; enriqueciendo mi nivel de apreciación y perspectiva. Pudiera decirles que La Biblia, tiene un peso importante en mí actuar, pudiera también citar otros dos mil nombres y títulos ilustres que ejercen influencia sobre mí, pero hoy, hoy me decido por este pedazo de novela qué, a pesar de haber sido escrita muy al inicio del siglo pasado, la pericia literaria de su autor Joseph Conrad, sumado a la contundente historia que cuenta, la convierten en una pieza indispensable de la literatura universal y que además ha sido llevada al cine. Lord Jim
Jim es un joven británico, casi hecho a mano; alto, fuerte, inteligente, dotado de una armadura moral forjada en los más estrictos conceptos de la época; donde el deber, el honor y el buen nombre, eran la carta de presentación de cualquier hombre. Y si de marinería se trataba, todo prestigio o desprestigio, pesaba el doble.
Jim se enrola en un navío que, a duras penas, se mantiene a flote, guiado además por una tripulación con un alto grado de deterioro moral.
Jim llega con sueños de grandeza. El barco "Patna" viaja sobrecargado de migrantes, el mar se pica, el barco cruje amenazando con hundirse. La cúpula de la tripulación intenta abandonar el barco; Jim los descubre. Él sabe que no debe abandonar el barco, pero el viento sacude la nave y las dudas lo sacuden a él, hasta que salta. Esa mala decisión lo perseguirá toda la vida hasta destruirlo, pues vaya a donde vaya, Jim encontrará a alguien que le recuerde su pasado y su cobardía.
Leí esa novela, la primera vez por curiosidad, la segunda vez por necesidad, el resto de las veces, por adicción y tal adicción que Lord Jim, es uno de los textos en estudio en los talleres literarios que imparto.
En esencia, aprendí con esta novela qué, sea buena o mala tu decisión, debes enfrentar las consecuencias. Que no importa a donde huyas el pasado te alcanzará y te cobrará todas las deudas.
Que al error se le va de frente porque si huyes, el crece y de fortalece mientras te caza.
Eso fue lo que le sucedió a Jim, cuando ya se había convertido en Lord Jim y gobernaba las islas de Patusan.
El final de esta novela me marcó y me enseñó al mismo tiempo a no huir jamás
Este libro me dejó un amor intenso por la verdad y la literatura, además de la certeza de que tu pasado es la base estructural de tu futuro.

I have read a lot, from the Bible, to the local newspaper.All readings have been configuring my behavior and thoughts; Enriching my level of appreciation and perspective.I could tell you that the Bible has an important weight in my acting, I could also cite another two thousand illustrious names and titles that exert influence on me, but today, today I decide myself for this piece of novel what, despite having been written very much at the beginning of the last century, the literary expertise of its author Joseph Conrad, added to the overwhelming story that he tells on it, makes of it an indispensable piece of universal literature that has been also taken to the cinema.
Lord Jim
Jim is a British young man, almost handmade: High, strong, intelligent, fromed with a moral armor forged in the strictest concepts of the time; Where duty, honor and good name were the letter of presentation of any man. And if it was, all prestige or discredit, weighed twice.
Jim got a job on a ship that, hardly, remains afloat, also guided by a crew with a high degree of moral deterioration.
Jim arrives with dreams of greatness.The "Patna" ship travels overloaded with migrants, the sea is chopped, the boat cries out threatening to sink.The crew dome tries to leave the ship; Jim discovers them.He knows that he should not leave the ship, but the wind shakes the ship and doubts shake him as well, until he decides to jump.That bad decision will chase him all his life until it destroyed him, because wherever he goes, Jim will find someone to remind him of his past and cowardice.
I read that novel, the first time out of curiosity, the second time out of necessity, the rest of the time, by addiction and such addiction that Lord Jim, is one of the texts under study in the literary workshops that I teache.
In essence, I learned with this novel that, if your decision is good or bad, you must face the consequences.That does not matter where you run, the past will reach you and will charge you all debts.
That we need to face error because if you run away, it grows and strengthens while hunting you.
That was what happened to Jim, when he had already become Lord Jim and ruled the islands of Patusan.
The end of this novel marked me and taught me at the same time to never flee.
This book left me intense love for truth and literature, in addition to the certainty that your past is the structural basis of your future.

A Joseph Conrad lo conocí por Tifón, que la verdad no me llamó demasiado la atención en su momento. De cierta forma ya lo había catalogado en mi cabeza como autor de novelitas de aventuras, me alegra conocer otra faceta y otra profundidad en su obra.
A Conrad lo fascinaba el mar y la aventura, pero con Lord Jim, se introdujo en un asunto mucho más complejo; la mente humana y sus efectos sobre el ser. Léete el libro o ve la película, te van a gustar.
