Desde el 2018 la palabra sororidad fue incluida en el diccionario de la RAE, su significado es: 1. Amistad o afecto entre mujeres. 2. Relación de solidaridad entre las mujeres, especialmente en la lucha por su empoderamiento. Es una maravilla tener una palabra para nombrar esa magia que ocurre cuando las mujeres nos juntamos. Crecí en una familia donde la mayoría de sus integrantes eran varones, eso no me impidió conectarme con las mujeres que estaban cerca de mí, como mi mamá, mis tías, primas, mi abuela y las muchas manadas de mujeres a las que pertenecí en todos mis niveles de estudio y cuando empecé a trabajar.
Tuve la dicha de encontrarme a grandes mujeres en mi camino, las cuales me enseñaron inmensamente. Una de ellas es Julieta Escobar, con ella me encamine en los ayunos y la meditación, su acompañamiento fue esencial en mi formación espiritual. Otra gran mujer que tuve el placer de conocer fue Mariela, con ella realice trabajo social muy importante con niñas y niños de bajos recursos económicos, de ella aprendí sensibilidad y técnicas para trabajar con pequeños con dificultades escolares. En general he aprendido mucho de cada mujer con la que he compartido, por eso creo en la sororidad, porque he sido testigo de cómo las mujeres tejemos redes de cuido y amor entre nosotras.
Me gustaría compartir en este post una de las experiencias más hermosas que he tenido junto a otras mujeres. Esta ocurrió en el 2019, cuando en mi país tuvimos que enfrentar un sabotaje eléctrico que dejo en oscuras a todo el territorio nacional. El primer apagón fue el 7 de marzo, a pocas horas del Día Internacional de la Mujer, mi pareja y yo nos preparábamos para hacer una gran actividad en la ciudad en conmemoración de este día. Amanecimos aquel 8 de marzo sin electricidad ni telecomunicaciones, nos fuimos al espacio donde se realizaría la actividad que ya estaba acondicionado, temerosas de que por aquella coyuntura las mujeres no llegaran, estábamos con bajas expectativas. Para nuestra sorpresa aquel lugar se llenó de mujeres artesanas, artistas y cultoras y tuvimos una mañana increíble de compartir. Ese fue solo el inicio de dos largos meses de oscuridad, donde sin electricidad la dinámica diaria se nos hacía cuesta arriba.
Empezamos aquella crisis entre mujeres, y seguimos transitándola en compañía de amigas y hermanas que nos tendimos la mano para sobrevivir en aquella dura situación. El 20 de marzo en medio de la crisis y la incertidumbre comenzamos en el barrio “Las Margaritas” un taller llamado “Cocina Sororal”, que tenía como objetivo facilitar recetas de comida alternativa para las mujeres de aquel bello lugar. Se dice fácil, pero el contexto en el que ocurrió todo me confirmo nuevamente lo poderosas que somos las mujeres cuando nos juntamos para trabajar. No teníamos gas, otra de las dificultades que ha sufrido mi país durante años, pretendíamos cocinar con artefactos eléctricos en medio de apagones hasta de 20 horas. Parecía imposible, pero no lo fue, las mujeres consiguieron todos los ingredientes, nosotras pusimos todos los artefactos eléctricos, nos prestaron una planta eléctrica y la comunidad puso la gasolina. Allí estábamos todas, como arañitas, tejiendo amorosamente una red para no caernos al vacío. Fueron tres encuentros titánicos, cocinando juntas e intercambiando anécdotas y sentires.
Sé que no habría salido bien de aquella situación de no haber sido por todas las mujeres que me acompañaron durante ese periodo, no solo la energía hermosa en el taller de cocina sororal, también a nivel personal que fui acompañada y apoyada por grandes amigas y mi pareja, todas mujeres enfrentando juntas aquella oscura tormenta. Recordarlo me llena de amor el corazón, porque mientras muchas personas no tuvieron las herramientas para atravesar serenamente aquel momento histórico tan fuerte, sin electricidad, agua, gas ni suficiente dinero para los alimentos, yo tuve la dicha de tener amigas a mi lado.

Sorority, Initiative: The Power of the Herd (Spanish/English)
Since 2018 the word sorority was included in the RAE dictionary, its meaning is: 1. I had the joy of meeting great women in my path, who taught me immensely. I would like to share in this post one of the most beautiful experiences I have had with other women. This happened in 2019, when in my country we had to face an electrical sabotage that left the entire national territory in darkness. The first blackout was on March 7, a few hours before International Women's Day, my partner and I were preparing to do a big activity in the city in commemoration of this day. We woke up that March 8 without electricity or telecommunications, we went to the space where the activity would be held, which was already conditioned, afraid that because of that situation women would not arrive, we were with low expectations. To our surprise, the place was filled with women artisans, artists, and cultural workers and we had an incredible morning of sharing. That was only the beginning of two long months of darkness, where without electricity, the daily dynamics became difficult for us.
We began that crisis among women, and we continued to go through it in the company of friends and sisters who held out their hands to help us survive in that difficult situation. On March 20, in the midst of the crisis and uncertainty, we started a workshop in the neighborhood "Las Margaritas" called "Cocina Sororal", which aimed to provide alternative food recipes for the women of that beautiful place. It is easy to say, but the context in which everything happened confirmed to me once again how powerful we women are when we get together to work. We had no gas, another of the difficulties my country has suffered for years, and we tried to cook with electric appliances in the midst of blackouts of up to 20 hours. It seemed impossible, but it was not, the women got all the ingredients, we provided all the electrical appliances, they lent us an electric plant and the community provided the gas. We were all there, like little spiders, lovingly weaving a web so as not to fall into the void. They were three titanic encounters, cooking together and exchanging anecdotes and feelings.
I know that I would not have come out of that situation well if it had not been for all the women who accompanied me during that period, not only the beautiful energy in the sororal cooking workshop, but also on a personal level that I was accompanied and supported by great friends and my partner, all women facing that dark storm together. Remembering it fills my heart with love, because while many people did not have the tools to serenely go through that historical moment so strong, without electricity, water, gas or enough money for food, I had the joy of having friends by my side.
