Nostalgia is what I feel when I go to the market that faces the sea. It's a cold day for the Caribbean today. Strong winds, swells, sea penetration into low areas, a lot of salt in the air and a lot to miss.
Longing for those times when, with waves like the ones I'm seeing today, I went out with everything I needed to photograph the surfers, with some of them on a direct call from where they were to go to them. We had a deal: they would let me know if the waves were good for surfing, and I would go where they were to take lots of photos. It was something that relaxed me a lot. Knowing that there would always be a huge wave with many people riding it and me on the coast enjoying those moments. Now most of these young people already have other things to do other than surfing, or have emigrated. I only have these photos of when the waves arrive in this part of the Caribbean.
Nostalgia es lo que siento cuando voy al mercado que está frente al mar. Es un día frío para el caribe hoy. Vientos fuertes, marejadas, penetraciones del mar en zonas bajas, mucho salitre en el aire y mucho que añorar.
Añorar aquellos tiempos en que con olas como las que estoy viendo hoy, yo salía con todo lo necesario para fotografiar a los surferos, con alguno de ellos en llamada directa desde donse estaban para ir hacia ellos. Teníamos un trato: ellos me avisaban si las olas estaban buenas para surfear, y yo iba hacia donde estuviesen para hacerles muchas fotos. Era algo que me relajaba mucho. Saber que siempre habría una ola inmensa con mucha gente remontándola y yo en la costa disfrutando de esos momentos. Ahora la mayoría de estos jóvenes ya tienen otras cosas que hacer diferente del surf, o han emigrado. Solo me quedan estas fotos de cuando llegan las olas a esta parte del Caribe.

These photos are beautiful.... I love the sea to relax and regenerate. When I was young I practiced sports in the sea, I swam and canoeed. These photos made me remember my promise for this 2025... go to the sea more often.
