Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to appreciate getting to visit the lake with some black and white photos!

Frozen Lake Monochrome Monday
The lake for SURE was frozen this year!
We've had some pretty intense cold weather this year, and I'm not upset about it. The really good thing about that crazy low temps and freezing is that it freezes the lakes and slow moving rivers SOLID. These fuckers were for sure about 1.5 or 2 feet thick of ice, that's nuts!
We had a nice bit of weather the other day, and I was going to take the little man out to do some stuff together, but he was enjoying himself doing whatever playing he was doing around the house. I ended up doing some cleaning because it was raining a little bit but when I finally finished up, I realized that the weathermen lied and it was actually really nice out! I packed up some shit and took him right outside hahaha.
One thing this year is for sure - we haven't gotten enough time outdoors! That's been a tough one for both him as well as I. Thankfully we've got a handle on some of the things we needed to do, so we've got more time to do things that are good for us like getting exercise and lots of fresh air.
One of the first places I knew I wanted to take the little man was the lake! We haven't been there practically at all this winter because it's been so cold, and on the weekends it's not been good enough outside for us to do anything so we opted to not take a trip up. It felt good to get up there for the first time in a while!
What I was surprised about was that there really weren't any people on the lake! The ice was frozen enough for sure.. but I was sure that I'd see many people meandering around. Unfortunately not, but that's okay, that meant more of the place for us!
We didn't want to risk walking across the ice though, especially when there weren't any people around. Not that I'd be nervous that the ice was thin, but when there aren't any of the locals on the ice I get a little nervous, since they know the conditions far better than anybody else.
Still, though, I was really glad to finally get some photos! I feel like I haven't gotten really any photos this year and that's been a tough one for me, as I am always one to snap some pictures on the adventures I take with my son. As with any of these outings, I for sure knew that I needed to turn some of them into black and white. I think black and white for snow is always an interesting way to go. It just takes the colors out of the sky, but the ground is already on the right scale!
