Can't see shit, leastways not without my contacts in. Can make out a fuzzy spot where the big letter at the top of the eye chart is supposed to be, but that's about it. Made the mistake of falling asleep with them in last night and my eyes have been grumpy about it ever since.
In honor of that, or at least the need to take my contacts out, gonna do things a bit differently and post unedited photos. When I was at the workshop back in October, our coaches weren't interested in anything that wasn't right in camera, the only editing being done was minor toning corrections, and we didn't get to do that ourselves.
They also had us set our cameras up to save both jpeg and raw and I've left it that way since. These photos are all resized jpegs from a recent outing to Mid City Mall over in the Highlands. Earlier in the year I was there shooting and noticed this Family Dollar store in the process of disappearing, had to come back with my camera when I discovered it'd completed the process.
Finally remembered to check my white balance. The mall has a very liminal space vibe to it, dimly lit and largely deserted, like you'd wandered backstage into yesteryear. Most of the people I saw there were either walking laps or handing out Jehovah's Witness pamphlets.
Did I mention it was dimly lit? Dark hallways and darker storefronts. Normally I just head straight for the thrift shop in the basement but with a new lens and camera strap to test out it only seemed right to explore a bit.
I feel like I've played this level before, just don't ask me which game it was. Had never ventured down this hallway before but the twilight zone light lured me in.
Found a fire exit and a couple unmarked doors but not much else. Definitely Resident Evil.
Wonder how many people had to wander in that door before they put the duct tape arrow up? Ever since I first set foot in here the place has seemed like it was in danger of closing. That's not changed much in twenty years but it recently made the news that the place was for sale. Again.
One shop was making up for that news with a bit of color. Or at least using it for a bit of privacy. While I was in the thrift shop some folks wandered in just to check and see if it was closing (it's not).
The past just called and said it's time for bed. Or maybe insert more quarters, couldn't tell, they were mumbling. Either way, I'll see y'all again when I have contacts in!
The title got me laughing, very clever :D
Those empty rooms and hallways are very creepy looking
:D Thanks, but I can't take much credit, just reworked the title of Philip K Dick's story, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? a bit.
Right!?! That whole place is just dim and creepy and waiting to be the set of a horror movie.
The Backrooms still have payphones?
This wing does. I think it even works too, or at least there was a guy talking into it like it did.
