A few days ago, when I told you about my walk through Millennium Park during my visit to Chicago last April, I mentioned that one of the most emblematic works of the park was under maintenance, The Cloud Gate. I think that was one of the few disappointments of the trip because I couldn't take a picture of my reflection in The Bean.
The Cloud Gate also known as The Bean is the work of artist Anish Kapoor.
It opened in 2006 and has since become one of Chicago's iconic landmarks.
The first time I saw it was the day after we arrived in Chicago. It was my son's birthday and I went to visit him in college. So on my way to Millennium station to catch the train, I stopped at Millennium Park to take a look at The Bean.
And that's when I was disappointed. The Bean was under maintenance works and the square where it is located was isolated by a fence.
But the worst part is that the whole lower part of The Cloud Gate was covered, so I couldn't even see the full reflections.
I went on my way without stopping much to be honest.
But a few days later I went back to Millennium Park with my husband to tour the park. I told you about it in Exploring Millenium Park in Chicago.
And surprise! though the square was still surrounded by a fence. At least The Bean was no longer covered.
And in the part of the fence that was covered by a black mesh, there was a hole, which allowed me to take this photo.
The photo was taken with an iPhone 12 and is the one with which I'm participating in this week's #POBphotocontest, whose subject is FRAMING. 👆
That day we walked through all the park and went around the fence of the AT&T plaza where The Bean is located.
And speaking of framing photos, here is another one taken through the bars of this other section of the fence.
So in the end the disappointment of it being under maintenance wasn't so big since I got some cool pictures. Don't you think?

Well, despite not having been able to get closer to this iconic work of art, the photos you were able to take turned out excellent!!!... Like for a street photography magazine!... I especially loved the one in which you used the fence as a frame!...Wow! 😍🔝🔝🔝📷📷📷 Thanks for sharing and a big round of applause for you @coquicoin friend! Hugs and blessings!
