As a photographer, sometimes I have to highlight the beauty that my clients possess, but that in many moments they think they don't have. That is the case of my friend norme, who is the one I bring you today, she very excited asked me as a favor, to take some pictures to promote her Instagram and to commemorate that she had her eyelashes done for the first time.
The photos were taken at her apartment on an afternoon when I visited her occasionally and happened to have my camera with me at the time. I readily agreed to take the pictures, but despite my willingness, Norme's posing skills were not very polished, which is why I had a hard time directing her, as every instruction I gave her showed her lack of experience and she looked quite stiff. After struggling a bit with her and telling her as many jokes as I could to break the ice, I managed to get what I thought were some good photos that highlighted her beauty.
But once the photos were edited and delivered I saw that she never published the material, and after a long time I decided to ask her what she had done with the images I gave her. To which she answered me and emphasized that the photos were very good and very nice, but from her point of view she did not look pretty in the pictures and for that reason she had been hesitating whether to publish them or not. She talked to me a lot about her features not looking like those of other women she knows, that her body did not have as many attributes as other women, among many other things that in her opinion did not make her look attractive at all. That the people who emphasized to her that she was a beauty were her friends and that the only reason we said that was simply not to make her feel bad.
Her response took me a little off base, but I wasn't entirely surprised, as it's something I've dealt with in the past. After talking with her a bit and trying to convince her how attractive she looks, we agreed that if I posted these photos and they were well received by people, she would agree to post them as well.
That is why today I am politely asking you to leave your honest opinions, so that she can read them and realize that she really is a beautiful woman and can have a little confidence when it comes to taking more pictures. I know this doesn't solve anything in the end, that self-love is found in yourself and not in others, but I have a small hope that with a little motivation she might start to change her perception of herself.

Como fotógrafo en ocasiones me toca resaltar la belleza que mis clientes poseen, pero que en muchos momentos creen no tener. Ese es el caso de mi amiga norme, que es a quien les traigo hoy, ella muy emocionada me pidió a modo de favor, tomarle algunas fotografías para poder promocionar su Instagram y conmemorar que se había hecho las pestañas por primera vez.
Las fotos se las tome en su apartamento en una tarde que la visite de manera ocasional y que casualmente me encontraba con mi cámara en ese momento. De buena forma accedí a tomarle las fotos, pero pese a mis disposición, Norme no tiene muy pulido sus habilidades a la hora de posar, es por ello que me costó un poco dirigirla ya que cada instrucción que le daba se notaba su falta de experiencia para desenvolverse y se veía bastante rigida. Después de batallar un poco con ella y de contarle todos los chistes que pude para romper el hielo, logre lo que me parecieron unas buenas fotos que resaltaban bastante su belleza.
Pero una vez editadas y entregadas las fotos vi que nunca publico dicho material, y pasado un largo tiempo decidí preguntarle que había hecho con las imágenes que le entregue. A lo que ella me contesto y enfatizo que las fotos estaban muy buenas y muy lindas, pero que desde su punto de vista ella no se veía bonita en las fotografías y por ese motivo había estado dudando si publicarlas o no. Me hablo mucho de que sus facciones no se ven como las de otras mujeres que ella conoce, que su cuerpo no tenía tantos atributos como el de otras mujeres, entre muchas otras cosas que en su opinión no la hacían ver atractiva en absoluto. Que las personas que le recalcábamos que era una belleza éramos sus amigos y que la única razón por la que decíamos eso era simplemente para no hacerla sentir mal.
Su respuesta me tomo un poco fuera de base, pero no me sorprendió del todo, ya que es algo con lo que ya he lidiado en el pasado. Después de hablar un poco con ella y de intentar convencerla de lo atractiva que se ve, acordamos que si yo publicaba estas fotos y tenían buena aceptación de las personas, ella accedería a publicarlas también.
Es por ello que hoy vengo pedirles cortésmente que dejen sus opiniones sinceras, para que ella pueda leerlas y darse cuenta que realmente es una hermosura de mujer y pueda tener un poco de confianza a la hora de tomarse más fotos. Sé que esto no resuelve nada al final, que el amor propio lo encuentras en ti mismo y no en los demás, pero tengo la pequeña esperanza de que con una ligera motivación ella podría empezar a cambiar de opinión la percepción de sí misma.
