Sometimes the simplicity of a walk through a garden, meadow or forest brings back specific moments to our memories. That day I was heading towards a small stream near my city where the rising waters were very evident due to the heavy rains of the previous days. In my effort to find beautiful natural spots I had the opportunity to reach some backwaters of the river, which was no longer a stream, and sit quietly on a rock to listen to its sound. Many thoughts came to my mind and I tried to leave them behind to enjoy that moment in solitude and have a conscious relationship with my surroundings without worldly interruptions.
En ocasiones la sencillez de un paseo por un jardín, prado o bosque nos trae momentos concretos a nuestros recuerdos. Ese día me dirigía hacia un pequeño arroyo cercano a mi ciudad en el que la crecida de las aguas era muy evidente debido a las fuertes lluvias de días atrás. En mi empeño por encontrar bonitos rincones naturales tuve la oportunidad de llegar a unos remansos del rio, que ya no era arroyo, y sentarme tranquilamente en una piedra a escuchar su sonido. Muchos pensamientos venían a mi mente y trate de dejarlos atrás para disfrutar de aquel momento en soledad y tener un trato consciente con mi entorno sin interrupciones mundanas.
Rivera of San Lazaro
I went to the nearby city of Plasencia in the north of Cáceres, leaving from this city and travelling a few kilometres along the N-523 road to go to a river area that runs through one of the sides of the city. I was looking forward to arriving because the goal of this adventure was to leave the noise, the car, the asphalt and the cement behind. When I arrived at the town of Plasencia I headed to the northern area where the Jerte River runs until it flows into the Alagón River. Both rivers provide a significant flow to the impressive Tajo River that runs through half the country and the neighbouring country, Portugal. I arrived at a large car park near the bus station and the view of the so-called “Island” and the entire area of the San Lázaro riverbank, the point I was looking for.
Me fui hasta la cercana ciudad de Plasencia en el norte de Cáceres saliendo desde esta ciudad y recorriendo unos pocos kilómetros por la carretera N-523 para dirigirme a una zona de rio que atraviesa por uno de los laterales la ciudad. Estaba deseando llegar porque el fin de esta aventura era dejar el ruido, el coche, el asfalto y el cemento atrás. Al llegar a la villa de Plasencia me dirigí a la zona norte por donde trascurre el rio jerte hasta su desembocadura en el rio Alagón. Ambos ríos proporcionan un importante caudal al impresionante rio Tajo que atraviesa medio país y el país vecino, Portugal. Llegue a un gran aparcamiento cercano a la estación de autobuses y la vista de la llamada “Isla” y todo el entorno de la rivera de San Lázaro, el punto que iba buscando.
Sometimes the simplest things capture my attention and this happened to me as I went deeper and deeper into this riverbank. I began to notice a beautiful eucalyptus tree that seemed to be very old due to its enormous trunk and branches. This type of tree was introduced into our ecosystem for purely economic reasons but, apart from this issue, I was seduced by its intricate and difficult shapes that seemed to want to reveal some secrets it held. I walked around it from various sides, all around, to be able to take some good photographic angles and record this encounter for my small collection of images and memories.
A veces las cosas más sencillas captan toda mi atención y esto me sucedió al adentrarme cada vez más en esta rivera. Empecé a fijarme en un hermoso eucalipto que parecía tener muchos años por su enorme tronco y su ramaje. Este tipo de arboles fueron introducidos en nuestro ecosistema por motivos puramente económicos pero, al margen de esta cuestión, me sedujo por sus formas enrevesadas y difíciles que parecían querer decir algunos secretos que guardaba. Lo recorrí por varios lados, todo su perímetro, para poder sacar algunos buenos ángulos fotográficos y dejar plasmado este encuentro para mi pequeña colección de imágenes y recuerdos.
Other types of vegetation blocked my path, but this made this walk along the riverbank a unique experience in contact with nature. Among a sea of branches I had the opportunity to see those flashes of light that the natural dome formed by the leaves allowed to filter those small but intense rays. The sensation that being in this place produced in me was one of intense peace and I felt in harmony with this whole environment, I was part of it.
Otros tipos de vegetación me iban cerrando el camino a mi paso pero esto convertía este paseo por las orillas del rio en una experiencia única en contacto con la naturaleza. Entre un mar de ramas tuve la oportunidad de ver esos destellos de luz que, la cúpula natural que formaban las hojas, dejaban filtrar esos pequeños pero intensos rayos. La sensación que me producía estar en este lugar era de una paz intensa y me sentía en armonía con todo este entorno, formaba parte de él.
I also noticed an area where there were some very well-kept gardens with completely different species, many of them ornamental, possibly from other areas since they were coniferous species, although there were many others of other species. I am not an expert in plants, but I can tell you that one of the things I like most when I travel and go to places is to pay close attention to it, to the trees, flowers or plants in the area where I am.
Repare también en una zona donde había unos jardines muy bien cuidados con especies completamente distintas y muchas de ellas ornamentales, posiblemente de otras zonas ya que eran de la especie de las coníferas aunque había otras muchas de otras especies. No soy un experto en plantas pero si os puedo decir que una de las cosa que más me gusta cuando viajo y voy a sitios es fijarme mucho en ella, en los árboles, flores o plantas de la zona donde estoy.
