When I worked in Olmué as a photographer, one of the things I did when I finished lunch was to grab the company camera and go out to photograph the surroundings. I’m not lying when I tell you that it was a very rural place, with few inhabitants, lots of intense green vegetation and clean air. Apart from being a very quiet place, I took my headphones with me while I walked around, clearing my mind a little to go back to work in the afternoon. Playing a little with the lens of the camera which was a 18-135mm, it gave me freedom to zoom in on what I had around me and even though I am a little afraid of insects, I dared to photograph this beautiful bee that was in the process of pollination and it’s funny because I have always liked bees even though they sting really hard because I have been stung (not that day haha), but, then reading a little about them and from a friend who knows a lot about the subject, I found out that when bees sting you for no reason, this is because for example you are walking in the street and they sting you, it is because in some way or another, they choose you and practically commit suicide because they saw in you some arthritis and want to cure you with their venom the chronic injuries such as bursitis, tendinitis, hypertension or asthma. After they bite you, they last a few hours and then die. It is ironic that after a long time, I am publishing this sequence of photographs that I took on any given day, but I dare say that they have been one of the most beautiful photos I have taken, because if we thoroughly appreciate each photograph, we see in it only one word that defines it as LIFE, and that is it, because all the colors, nature, animals, in this case the bee, which is practically responsible for pollinating all of nature and that thanks to them we are alive. Bees are vital for our crops because their pollination not only increases the yield, but also improves the quality of the fruit, which is why their disappearance would mean a tremendous loss for food diversity and quality. Bees are of total importance to the world and without them, in approximately 5 years the planet would be lifeless. And I say that it is ironic, because I am just publishing this set of photographs, in the bee house “Hive”.

Cuando trabajaba en Olmué de fotógrafa, una de las cosas que hacía cuando terminaba de comer, era agarrar la cámara de la empresa y salir a fotografiar los alrededores. No les miento cuando les digo que era un sitio muy campestre, con pocos habitantes, mucha vegetación verde intenso y aire limpio. Aparte de ser un sitio bien tranquilo, me llevaba mis audífonos mientras caminaba despejando la mente un poco para volver a entrar a trabajar en la tarde. Jugando un poco con el lente de la cámara que era un 18-135mm, me daba libertad para hacer zoom a lo que tenía a mi alrededor y a pesar de que soy un poco miedosa con los insectos, me atreví a fotografía esa abeja hermosa que estaba en su proceso de polinización y es curioso porque siempre me han gustado las abejas a pesar de que pican bien duro porque me han picado (no ese día jaja), pero, luego leyendo un poco sobre ellas y por una amiga que sabe bastante del tema, me enteré de que cuando las abejas te pican sin razón alguna, esto es debido a que por ejemplo vas caminando en la calle y te pica, es porque de alguna u otra forma, ellas te eligen y prácticamente se suicidan porque vieron en ti alguna artritis y quieren curarte con su veneno las lesiones crónicas tales como bursitis, tendinitis, hipertensión o asma. Luego de que te pican, duran pocas horas y luego mueren. Es irónico que luego de un tiempo largo, esté publicando esta secuencia de fotografías que hice un día cualquiera, pero que me atrevo a decir que han sido una de las fotos más hermosas que he hecho, ya que si apreciamos a fondo cada fotografía, vemos en ella solo una palabra que lo define como VIDA, y es eso, porque todos los colores, la naturaleza, los animales, en este caso la abeja, que se encarga prácticamente de polinizar toda la naturaleza y que gracias a ellas estamos vivos. Las abejas son vitales para nuestros cultivos porque su polinización no solo aumenta el rendimiento, sino que también mejora la calidad de la fruta, es por ello que su desaparición supondría una tremenda pérdida para la diversidad y calidad alimentaria. Las abejas son de total importancia para el mundo y sin ellas, en un aproximado de 5 años el planeta se quedaría sin vida. Y digo que es irónico, porque estoy justamente publicando este set de fotografías, en la casa de las abejas “Hive”.
