Today I bring you this series of photos of a few birds called Japanese quail. These are chicks my stepfather has had at home for a few months. He was motivated to raise this type of bird because of the benefits of bone laying. From the moment I discovered this type of bird, I was interested in what these birds look like, so perfect and beautiful. They are small birds, about eight times smaller than an average chicken, but I really liked the plumage among those warm colors, or at least the plumage of this breed of quail.

I understand that these birds are native to the Asian continent. However, for a few decades now, many farms have been established in several countries in the Americas, from north to south, and people are very interested in raising quail. This is due to the ease of raising them, the limited space they require, and also because the eggs are more beneficial than those of chickens because they contain a high level of protein. Among the various factors that motivated many people to raise quail, although in my country, Venezuela, there is still not much knowledge about these birds, the Asian community in Venezuela is very knowledgeable about them.

On the technical side of photography, the lighting conditions in that area were very poor due to the birds being kept in cages, and the fact that the day was very cloudy. For a moment, I considered taking some quail, but in the end, I didn't because they are very elusive and fast birds, which could have been difficult to catch in the open air, as well as to take photographs. Without a doubt, some of them are very beautiful birds, both in terms of their plumage and overall physiognomy.

All photographs are my own.
