It's well-known fact that there are no straight lines in nature and when it comes to human progress that becomes even more true.
Uninterrupted progress is a myth and considered on a long-enough time frame, falling off track is the only real guarantee.
You might be consistent for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months, but I promise you that at one point it's going to come a day when you're going to fall off track and you're going to fall flat on your face.
Now here is the thing, skipping one day is not a problem, allowing that to become a trend, is.
Going off track is not a problem, setting camp and eventually moving there, is.
And why?
Because most progress and human potential are lost in the "in-betweens".
You manage to stay consistent for a few days, then go off track for a few weeks; you stay consistent for a few weeks, then go off track for a few months; and so on.
And so, the most important skill to develop in your toolbox is this: learn-getting-back-on-track-fast. Regaining your focus, and resuming your journey as fast as possible should be the norm.
Acknowledge, Act & Adapt.
In order to have a good year, you don't need a perfect track record, you just need the right attitude, especially when things go bad. Because eventually, they will.
2 mantras to go with that.
Don't let a day become a trend unless it was a good day.
Don't wish for consistency, because you might become very good at fu**up every day and not knowing it, practice awareness so you can know the difference.
