Being my first entry, I thought I could write a few words other than the -- quite short-- poem.

I believe all good stories have a background or context we don't always get to know, but that is always there.
In this case, I wrote this poem after a heart break, about 5 years ago. Was living alone -- surrounded by people and still lonely--, in a shelter, no friends, no TV, no internet... The best context for writing.

Please tell me what you think. All constructive criticism welcome.

The clock strikes midnight.
Another day has gone by,
without her scent,
without her smile.

On a crumpled piece of paper
he writes his last goodbye.
"Forever yours", he reads,
and tears it apart.

A dim light is all that sheds
upon the bench on which he sits.
His broken heart holds nothing else
than a hopeless man's last wish.

His tearful eyes stare
into the endless night,
to whatever god may care
he utters a mournful cry.

"I beg you, please,
bring her back,
give me one last kiss,
give me one last hug".
