Presa del pánico, la joven corrió hasta el patio trasero de la casa, que daba a un muro tan alto que convertía el espacio en una ratonera. Dentro de casa, el desconocido seguía moviéndose, y Laura escuchó de nuevo los gritos de Adriana. Volvió a entrar a la casa e intentó llamar a la policía desde la cocina, pero la línea había sido cortada. Sin saber qué hacer, Laura subió a la habitación de Adriana. Se encontró la estancia cubierta de sangre, a Kelly acuchillada sobre una pila de ropa y a Adriana detrás de la cama, todavía viva pero inconsciente por las numerosas puñaladas que le habían dado. Laura logró bajar hasta su habitación, con los pies descalzos manchados por la sangre de sus compañeras, y llamó a la policía desde su móvil. El crimen tardó dos años en resolverse. El culpable resultó ser Erling Thompson, marido de Alex Murphy, una de las amigas de Adriana. Él mismo confesó su autoría sin dar ningún motivo para los asesinatos.
Panicked, the young woman ran to the backyard of the house, which overlooked a wall so high that it turned the space into a mousetrap. Inside the house, the stranger was still moving, and Laura heard Adriana's screams again. She went back into the house and tried to call the police from the kitchen, but the line had been cut. Not knowing what to do, Laura went upstairs to Adriana's room. She found the room covered in blood, Kelly stabbed on a pile of clothes and Adriana behind the bed, still alive but unconscious from the numerous stab wounds she had been given. Laura managed to get down to her room, her bare feet stained by the blood of her companions, and called the police from her cell phone. The crime took two years to solve. The culprit turned out to be Erling Thompson, husband of Alex Murphy, one of Adriana's friends. He himself confessed to the crime without giving any motive for the murders.
