I'm starting a writing journey on Hive. Be my guide.

in Writing Club3 years ago

I joined here 9 days ago and I took the first few hours to look around and also check out some things which - in my opinion - are going to help me do well here.

So far, I've already subscribed to the following Communities on Hive;

  • Freewriters

  • Scholar and Scribe

  • The Inkwell

  • Writing Club.

I like how each Community has some sort of description attached to it because this made it easier for me to find the ones that are in line with what I hope to achieve by starting this journey on Hive.

Lemme tell you something about me

I love working remotely and I enjoy being a content creator because it enables me to think creatively. I know one or two things about image designing and video editing. I'm an avid reader (when time permits) and I'm not entirely new to writing, but I am weirdly developing an interest in a sort of writing which is out of my area of expertise - FICTIONAL WRITING.

I have tried this sort of writing back in 2020 and I don't rate myself high in that area. Whenever I compare my work with that of other fictional writers, I see a lot of loopholes. After trying this sorta writing for a while - just about 4 or 5 short stories, I called it quits.

Now, the interest is back and I want to learn. That is why I'm here. I want to learn how to be a good storyteller.

I bet this explains the choice I made with regards to the Communities I'm already subscribed to.

I would also plea with the pros on here to help with writing tips that can help me develop this skill. I've tried in the past and I gave up. Now I'm ready to go again and I won't force myself to learn everything at a go. I'm ready to go through the teething process while reading and practising.

I hope this introduction goes down well with the Community members on Hive. By the way;

  1. Is it possible for a complete noob to get into fictional writing and become good at it?

  2. How long is this going to take?

For the record, I'm thinking of publishing 2 or maybe 3 stories per week, for a start. I hope to do well here.

Welcome to hive @warrablog is @macchiata from the @OCD team bringing you some helpful tips navigating hive.

If you have time, You can read some of the communities in this post that you may like : OCD Communities Incubation Program or https://peakd.com/communities for all communities.

For tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here: newbie guide.

The important thing is Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog. You can't include content that you don't own without sources. For more information, check this post: Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise.

If you have questions or concerns, you can hop into OCD's Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions.

It's possible. I think you can become good at it with practice. The community that you subscribed have daily and even weekly prompt that you can try. I participated in the past but because lack of time, I didn't do them anymore.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. And thanks for answering one of the questions I was curious about. I hope to learn anf improve that aspect of my writing.

Hello @warrablog
Well come hive

Welcome to the Hive community @warrablog!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Peaklock, and Hivesigner,
  3. The ***master password and the owner key are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. ***DO NOT OPEN any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.
