Miles de cosas ocupan mi mente mientras doy vuelta, entre mis dedos, a una moneda dorada. Por cierto, primera que veo desde que llegué a Argentina, y que he guardado para la buena suerte.
Y cómo no guardarla, si me parece tan bonita. ¡Tiene un arbolito! Yo tengo un vínculo muy fuerte con los árboles, son un símbolo muy poderoso y bello.
Aunque mi esposo dijo que era un brócoli, el árbol de la moneda es un Caldén. Este nombre no me es familiar así que busqué un poco al respecto pensando que quizá sería el árbol nacional o algo así. Resulta que el Caldén no es el árbol nacional, pero si es el árbol típico de la provincia de La Pampa. Un árbol de madera muy dura y además muy resistente a la sequía; cuyo fruto es usado, principalmente, como complemento del alimento del ganado en épocas de sequía.
Así encontré por ahí que los mapuches (un pueblo indigena de Argentina) consideraban al Caldén como un árbol sagrado, pero no entendí muy bien la historia tejida a su alrededor; lo que entendí es que es un símbolo importante para el pueblo argentino.
Parezco una niña maravillandome con cosas tan cotidianas como una simple moneda, pero creo que es hermoso que una linda moneda me haya llevado a investigar y a descubrir un poco más de la cultura y la tradición de este bello país.
Mientras investigaba un poco sobre este árbol, encontré una foto de sus flores y recordé unas muy parecidas de mi paseo con los poetas por las cercanias del Hotel los Bordones en Cumaná, la busqué en mi archivo para compartirla con ustedes. Si alguien conoce el árbol y me puede decir si es la misma, le estaría muy agradecida.
No sería extraño que fuera la misma o acaso alguna de la misma familia, pues he visto que compartimos mucha flora en común. Ya quiero que llegue la primavera para poder visitar los jardines que tiene esta ciudad.
Y así fue como una moneda de 10 pesos me llevó a reflexionar sobre tantas cosas y a conocer al Caldén, La Pampa y los Mapuches.

It turns out that the Caldén is not the national tree, but it is the typical tree of the province of La Pampa. A tree with very hard wood and also very resistant to drought; whose fruit is used, mainly, as a complement to livestock food in times of drought.
Thus I found out there that the Mapuches (an indigenous people of Argentina) considered the Caldén as a sacred tree, but I did not understand very well the history woven around it; What I understood is that it is an important symbol for the Argentine people.
I seem like a little girl marveling at things as everyday as a simple coin, but I think it is beautiful that a beautiful coin has led me to investigate and discover a little more about the culture and tradition of this beautiful country.
While I was doing a little research on this tree, I found a photo of its flowers and I remembered some very similar ones from my walk with the poets near the Hotel los Bordones in Cumaná, I looked for it in my archive to share it with you. If anyone knows the tree and can tell me if it is the same one, I would be very grateful.
It would not be strange if it were the same one or perhaps one from the same family, since I have seen that we share a lot of flora in common. I already want spring to arrive so I can visit the gardens that this city has.

Hola amiga @isauris Me encantó esta hermosa descripción de la moneda de 10 pesos, de este hermoso país. La verdad no sé cuanto tiempo tienes viviendo acá, pero lo importante es que eres otra hiver en Argentina. Me quedo con eso. La flora en este país, es muy hermosa, y en efecto, coincidimos en algunas plantas, a pesar de los cambios bruscos de temperatura.
