How to boost your DEC earnings

When you play Splinterlands you have 3 ways to earn DEC. You get them as rewards when completing a quest. You get them as season rewards or you get them while winning games.

The amount of DEC is linked to the level you have. The higher league you play, the more DEC you are going to earn and the more rewards your are going to receive.

The factors that define your DEC earnings

When you play the game, your DEC earnings depend on several factors. First you only earn when you win. Then there is the capture rate that defines how much you can earn and then there are some bonuses that will boost your income.

The capture rate

The capture rate is a number that will multiply your income. With every game that you play this capture rate will decrease and with it your DEC income. Your earnings per victory is maximal when your capture rate is close to 100%. This capture rate is refilling organically over time. Try to keep your capture rate as high as possible but make sure that it never stays at 100%. You want to know why? check out this great article by @jelly13.

Win streak

If you win 3 or more games in a row, you will get a bonus in your DEC earnings. The longer your win streak, the bigger your bonus.

Bonus cards

If you play alpha, promo or gold foil cards, you will get a bonus of 10% for each of the cards that you play. If you play for example a gold foil alpha card you will get a 20% (10 + 10) bonus. You can use several cards and thereby increase your bonus.

Guild bonus

If you are a member of a guild that has a developed Guild Hall you will get a Guild bonus for every one of your wins!

My tips to increase your DEC earnings

Victory over daily quest

Always try to make winning a priority while you play. If you need to play a certain splinter for your daily quest and you know you can't win with a given rule set, play another splinter that will allow you to win. If you lose, you loose your win streak and you loose also capture rate.

Use Bonus cards

When you rent cards, try to rent cards that will give you bonuses: Alpha, Promo and Gold Foil cards.

Play early in the season

There is a reward pool that is distributed among all the players. The thing is this reward pool is much fuller at the beginning of a season. If you play early, you can earn more. You can also profit from lower rental prices at the beginning of a season.

I believe these tips will allow you to increase your DEC earnings in the long run!

Do you know why the reward pool is fuller at the start of the season?

I’ve noticed that in day two my rewards were quite high.

I can answer that. Because the inflation for DEC is the same (if the price of DEC doesn't fluctuate), and at the beginning of season much less people are playing. The same amount of DEC is split among fewer players.

I don't really know the reason but I can say it from experience. Just after season starts, the rewards are usually quite low. Then one day later they are at max to go down gradually until the end of the season.

I believe immediately after the season end the rewards are lower because season end rewards are being paid out, thus reducing the available DEC from inflation to distribute to players. Then it's just a matter of how many players split the existing inflation (normally constant, but it can fluctuate with the price of DEC, as we have seen).

This would confirm that there are less players active at the beginning of a season and therefore more DEC available for the active ones.

Interesting, it would make sense that this is the reason

Good tips! I like your Splinterlands series. I hope beginners (and not only) are watching.

Thanks a lot for the feed-back :-). Appreciate it!

Hi @achim03 good tips
You are absolutely right, at the beginning of the season there are less active players and that is the best time to increase the number of battles ;)

Did you know Pizzabot speaks Spanish if you use the command ESPIZZA? (6/10)

I always try to have play a lot in the first days of a season. That's when I earn most with my victories (if I manage to win of course ;-)).

Thanks a lot for stopping by!

We need to get you live streaming some matches...So you can wear one of those fancy Index Token jerseys live on air LOL

Haha, that would be awesome :-)

Thanks for the tips. I was wondering why my DEC rewards were decreasing as the season progressed. It is a combination of the capture rate and the "less active players at beginning of season"

While discussing it with others I believe it's also due to the fact that people climb in the ranking over the season. Therefore they will earn more rewards with daily quests and therefore there is less DEC distributed for won battles.

Nice tips and who minds more DEC at this rate.

We probably all like to have more of them :-)

Yeah, loving them.

How about the higher rating players takes more per win, does the rating affect the earning.
Thanks for your useful posts

The amount of DEC earned is relative to the league that you are playing in. In Champions you might earn more than 100 DEC per win and in bronze you earn maybe 0.1 DEC per Win. In the levels in between it's shifting in a slightly exponential manner.

Thanks for stopping by!

İn bronze 1 i was able to win 30 per win in the seasons's beginning, now i am in sliver3 i take just 10 to 18 depending on the win streak and using golden cards.
So as you said the reward pool is very important too

The reward pool is actually always the same but it comprehends also the quest rewards. At the beginning of the season everybody is winning less chests and therefore the DEC you win in battles are higher. The more the season progresses, the more people get reward chests and thus the earnings per victory diminuishes.

I haven't really had the time to drain my energy capture rate. I think that would come first...and it depends on how much time you have available.

Exactly. For me it's rather the time efficiency. I try to win as much DEC in the time I can dedicate to the game.

good Tips, thanks for sharing and caring

Your payout per game is maximal. Your income is not.

You are totally right about that lol. Never leave things at 100% :-).
