Hello Splinterlands Community!
Hope everyone is doing well.
Since it is weekend and I do have some time in hand, I have decided to enter this weeks battle challenge with the theme Dragons.
ABOUT THE CARD :
The Dragon splinter comes with a lot of options and depth, but since most sought after cards are quite expensive I did not play with Dragon splinters much until I got a level 2 Quix the Devious. And one of my go to tanks with the Dragon splinter have been Djinn Chwala.
Being a reward card, this beast of a card is very under priced compared to the utility it brings to the deck.
Let's take a look at the stats of the card.
Impressive, isn't it!
I have the card at level 3 which comes with a melee damage of 3, and solid defensive ability with armor of 6 and hp of 10! The mere 2 speed is on the lower side to be honest though. At the highest level it does have True Strike which makes up for the low speed.
And the thorns ability the card has in all levels is itself a match winner.
THE RULE SET :
- Mana Cap : 52
- Rule set : Standard
- Available Splinters :
Water
Death
Dragon
THE LINE UP :
For our summoner we went for a level 2 Quix the Devious.
The - 1 to archery and -1 to speed this summoner inflicts to the opponent deck are amazing debuffs.
This is so far one of the best chaos legion summoners we have.
At position 1, we have our showstopper for the day, a level 3 Djinn Chwala with the responsibility of a tank.
Since, this is a high mana match we can choose many high damage dealers while Djinn Chwala stands it's ground.
At position 2, we went with Flying Squid, one of my favorite secondary tanks from the water splinter.
At level 5 it provides 3 melee damage and has 9 hp. The card is also very fast with the speed of 4 and most importantly, it's reach ability allows to attack from the second position.
At position 3, we went with a support card, River Nymph.
At level 4 it provides 1 magic damage, with 3 speed and has hp of 3.
Does not seem great right?
I actually chose this card for it's ability of amplify which would go very nicely with the thorns of Djinn Chwala.
At position 4, we went with another beast from Dragon splinter, our main damage dealer, Chaos Dragon.
I only have the card at level 1, and absolutely want to upgrade.
The 3 magic damage with scattershot can be deadly nevertheless.
It is quite durable too with 4 armor and 10 hp with Flying ability.
The 14 mana is an issue if the mana cap is not on the higher side.
In the next position we have Axemaster.
Again, I have it only at level 1. But, the 2 archery damage with double strike is deadly enough and gets the job done.
At the cost of 7 mana, it comes with speed of 4 and hp of 5 which is not bad.
At the last spot we have Djinn Oshannus from Water splinter.
This card again, needs to introduction.
At level 2, it provides 2 magic damage, has a hp of whopping 11 and speed of 5. In addition to that it has Void and Phase abilities.
This entire package comes at the cost of 8 mana.
THE HIGHLIGHTS :
- Round 1:
In round 1, the Chaos Dragon from my team took out the opponent's Sabre Shark. But, my team also took a blow as the opponent's Deeplurker took out my River Nymph (the amplify was an epic fail lol).
The opponent's Feasting Seaweed also took out our Axemaster.
Our Djinn Chwala though stood strong with 10 hp losing it's armor whereas we managed to drain down the hp of Sea Monster to 2.
- Round 2:
Right at the start of round 2, our Djinn Oshannus took out the Sea Monster. And the opponent's Flying Squid was eliminated by Djinn Chwala's Thorn. But, we took a heavy blow as Feasting Seaweed took out our Djinn Oshannus.
- Round 3:
In round 3, our Chaos Dragon took revenge taking out Feasting Seaweed. Our Djin Chawala was standing with 3 hp and both Flying Squid and Chaos Dragon were at max health.
- Round 4:
At the start of round 4, our Flying Squid took out the Deeplurker and Chaos Dragon dealt the final blow to the opponent's Sand Worm and the match was over.

DID MY STRATEGY WORK?
The plan was to use Djinn Chwala as the tank while the other damage dealer does the job, which worked well to be honest and Chaos Dragon did an amazing job wiping out the team from the back while the tank protects it.
Having said that, my Amplify strategy with Djin Chwala's Thorn was a big flop as River Nymph was eliminated in the very first round.
To conclude, I would still stick to my opinion about Djinn Chwala being a very undervalued card with the utility it brings as a tank.
