Hello, splinter-warriors. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a battle that features the essence of "make do with what you've got" versus a well-tailored deck. In the end, it wasn't dumb luck that brought the victory to the victory but a well-planned tactic as well.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 40 and there are only 2 summoners available in the summoning pool: Fire and Nature.
Battle Rules:-
- Noxious Fumes: All units start the battle poisoned and lose 2 health at the start of each round starting in round 2.
- Lost Legendaries: You cannot summon legendary units.
Keeping the high mana cap and battle rules in mind, I had to go for the summoner that would give me an edge both during and after their death. That way, I would get all the buffs and not the hassle of relying on bloodthirsty monsters.
Battle Details
Let's start from my side:
Summoner: Tarsa(Ability: Increase in HP and Melee Damage by 1 for all ally monsters.)
Tank: Forgotten One(Ability: Immunity),
Ranged Attackers: Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr), Lava Launcher(Ability: Close Range), Firecaller(Ability: Martyr), Tinderlock(Ability: Last Stand, Close Range).
My strategy was to have 3 of my monsters, 2 ranged attackers and 1 melee attacker have the greatest damage and health possible from the martyr effect whereas 1 ranged attacker would receive the martyr effect twice and have the highest damage possible along with the HP. That way, I could have a higher HP average which would help me sustain and be in the battle for a longer period. I chose a legendary monster with immunity ability, meaning I got a tank that would not be affected by the battle rules and my overall HP would remain high.
My overall damage per round is 14. Adding in the increase through martyr effects, it comes to 18 damage per round.
Now, for the opposition's turn:
Summoner: Tarsa(Ability: Increase in HP and Melee damage by 1 for all ally monsters).
Tank: Tusk The Wide*(Ability: Void).
Blocked Melee Attacker: Ferox Defender(Ability: Protect).
Melee Attackers: Uraeus(Ability: Sneak), Torch Vizier(Ability: Opportunity), Sand Worm(Ability: Sneak), Tenyii Striker(Abbility: Sneak).
His strategy was to use the ability of his summoner to the fullest and have his monsters achieve the highest damage and HP. To pull it off, he had the right monsters to use that would hit me from the back of my deck and increase his overall shields by 2; he used his blocked attacker for it. He also used a monster that would target my weakest link/HP monster which was really effective for this type of battle. With more HP and targeting a monster with the least HP, he would have monsters that would survive at least 5 rounds before kicking the bucket.
His overall damage per round is 19 damage per round.
Major Events
In the first third of the round, the first monster to fall was my Marksrat thanks to the monster with opportunity ability.
The second monster to fall in the final third was my Tinderlock. Although a shame, it sustained enough damage to be targeted by the other sneak attackers.
In the first third of the round, his tank fell opening up his blocked melee attacker to shine. Thus, his overall damage per round was still the same.
All his monsters did my Firecaller in the second third of the round. That way, Lava Launcher got its third and final stats boost.
In the first third of the round, his Uraeus was taken out by the poison debuff.
In the second third of the round, his secondary fell, and thus all his shields were stripped out.
In the final third of the round, his Vizier was brought down and thus he had monsters with significantly less HP than my tank.
In the second third of the round, his Worm fell thanks to my tank while my Lava Launcher was at its limit.
Finally, in the final third of the round, his only sneak monster was taken out by my indomitable tank.
Results
My strategy was to use a monster that would have immunity which was extremely useful because it was the only strategy that would counter his perfectly well-built deck of monsters with high damage and a moderate level of HP. Because he targeted my back lines first, my tank would eliminate his ones by bearing with low damage from the front.
