Hello, splinter-folks. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a noteworthy battle that deserves to be the top battle of the day. It combines strategic prowess, a unique monster lineup, and an awesome fight for victory.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 46 and there are 4 summoners to choose from: Fire, Nature, Death, and Dragon.
Battle Rules:-
- Aim True: All units gain true strike.
- Beefcakes: You can only summon units with 5 or more health.
Keeping the mana cap, available summoners, and battle rules I chose the death summoner as he owns a fearsome armada of high-level monsters and would give me an edge over my opponents through his ability.
Battle Details
Let's begin the deck deconstruction from my side:
Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters)(Level 5)
Tankn: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, Heal).
Melee Attacker: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach, Trample).
Ranged Attackers: Queen of Crows(Ability: Close Range), Dhampir Stalker(Ability: Aim True, Deathblow), Gobson Bomber(Ability: Recharge, Camouflage), Lira The Dark(Ability: Opportunity, Snare).
My strategy was to attack them from the front with a tank that would inflict some damage when attacked physically and be able to self heal. I used a melee attacker that would back up the tank with physical damage from the back. I placed a ranged attacker whose attacks would not be missed, one who would charge for every odd-numbered round and then release 3x the damage every even-numbered round, and the last one, who had the highest speed, would target their weakest link.
My overall damage for every odd-numbered round is 17 and every even-numbered round is 23 with a constant healing of 3.
Now, for the opposition's turn.
Summoner: Obsidian(Ability: Increase in magic damage by 1 for all ally magic attackers)(Level 2 Gold Foil*)
Tank: Mycelic Infantry(Ability: Shield).
Blocked Melee Attacker: Disintegrator(Ability: Demoralize).
Magic Attackers: Regal Peryton(Ability: Flying), Goblin Psychic(Ability:b Tank heal), Mycelic Splipspawn(Ability: Taunt).
Ranged Attacker: Supply Runner(No Ability).
His strategy was to keep his tank alive by having the enemy units focus on the one at the end of the deck while reducing the incoming melee attacks by 1 for each melee attacker. He also used a tank healer to prolong his tank's stay at the front should his taunt user fall. He used a high-speed magic attacker to strike first and do some early damage, the same for the ranged attacker with slightly less speed.
His overall damage per round is 13 with a healing of 2.
Major Events
His magic attackers' damage did not increase by 1 thanks to my summoner's ability and he suffered 1 HP loss for all of his monsters. This advantage was extremely beneficial as my overall damage per round would cover his total HP much earlier.
At the start of the round, his Slipspawn fell after taking the brunt of most of my units.
Soon after, my prized tank fell and thus they evened the odds.
Near the end of the round, his tank fell making it a 4 v 5 and I had the advantage.
At the end of the round, he managed to get my melee attacker and it was my close ranged ranged attacker to grace the tank's position. Should that fall, it would've been over for my units.
In the first half of the round, his tank healer was taken out by my opportunity attacker in the back of my deck.
Near the end of the round, his Disintegrator* was taken out of my Bomber and this takedown was huge since his overall damage and HP were way lower than mine.
After half the round had passed, his Peryton fell thanks to my Lira and his ranged attacker came out in the front. Thus, his net attack per round was 0.
At the end of the round, his ranged attacker fell to my Stalker with 1 hit thanks to the deathblow ability.
Results
This was the first time I had used Gobson in a Silver lobby as its unique abilities are seldom useful. This was one place where his abilities were perfect for the battle rules. Next, the primary reason for his failure was that he used a blocked melee attacker. Had he used a better sort of monster that would further charge my tank, he could've easily cut through my tank and brought out the rest of my ranged attackers even with a lower overall damage per and a moderate healing. Or, had he rented better monsters for the battle, his chances of beating me would've been higher.
