Another opportunity has given by the Splinterlands team by giving more insight in to the ways the players strategize in the game, accounting to every possible outcome in different set of rules players encounter.

For this weeks challenge, the featured ruleset is the Rise of the Commons where the common and rare units of each players may be used in the battle while the summoners are unaffected by the said ruleset.

With this, I would like to share my battle featuring this ruleset. My current league is Silver while my units were under the Bronze level league because I started the game in the Bronze level after the end of season.

THE RULESETS

  • Close Range: Range attacks may be used in the first position in battles.
  • Rise of the Commons: Only common and Rare units may be used in battles.
  • 31 mana capacity battle.
  • Active Elements: Fire, Death, and Dragon.

STRATEGY ALIGNMENT

Yodin_zaku.png

Yodin Zaku

One of my favorite summoners is the Yodin Zaku. I commonly use range type units in battles whenever the opportunity arise in order to further increase the range damage, and health of my units. Also with the Blast ability given to all my units, it can cause damage to the adjacent unit of the targeted enemy units.

living_lava.png

Living Lava

This is one of the tank units that I usually choose in my fire team. At level 2, it has the stats of 3 melee, 1 speed, 2 armor, and 7 health. It comes with the Shield ability that reduces damage from melee and ranged attacks by half.

goblin_shaman.png

Goblin Shaman

In my strategy, I wanted to reduce the health of the enemy units so I choose the Goblin Shaman with its Weaken ability. At level 3, it has the stats of 1 magic, 2 speed, and 3 health. I choose this in this position as the sacrificial first position unit incase the Living Lava is defeated so that my range units won't be defeated immediately.

centaur.png

Centaur

Third is the Centaur, one of the best in my opinion in the neutral element range unit with low mana usage. AT level 3, it has the stats of 1 range, 4 speed, and 5 health. The Snipe ability attacks the first enemy unit with range, magic, or no attack that is not in the position.

lava_spider.png

Lava Spider

Fourth position is the Lava Spider from the Chaos Legion edition. At level 3, it has the stats of 1 range, 3 speed, and 5 health. It also have the Snipe ability to help in damaging other enemy units.

highland_archer.png

Highland Archer

Fifth position is another neutral unit which is the Highland Archer. At level 3 it has the stats of 1 range, 2 speed, and 3 health. A good range unit support in my strategy.

fire_beetle.png

Fire Beetle

Last in the position is the Fire Beetle. At level 3, it has the stats of 2 range, 2 speed, and 4 health. I choose this as a sacrificial unit incase the enemy units has the sneak ability.

First Round

With the enemy choosing Thaddius Brood as their summoner, it counters the ability of the Yodin Zaku for giving additional health to my units.

In the start of the battle, the enemy has the advantage in terms of speed than my units, removing the armor of my Living Lava immediately and causing damage to its health.

Some of my units attacks missed but it immediately defeated the enemy Riftwing which is the sacrificial tank of the enemy a wise decision the enemy made as to not immediately defeat the remaining units.

Second Round

In this round, the Life Sapper was defeated while my unit Living Lava was also defeated, leading to the Goblin Shaman to be in the first position.

The enemy Soul Strange was also defeated in this round thanks to the blast ability given by my summoner.

The Cursed Windeku has been defeated in this round leading to the enemy to have 2 units in the formation but ended for the Dhamphir Stalker to remain in the enemy unit.

Third Round

My Goblin Shaman was defeated in this round, breaking its weaken ability and leading to all my range units remaining in the formation.

The remaining unit of the enemy was finally defeated in this round leading to me as the winner in the battle, gaining with 20 points in the Wild Division, 597 RP, and 0.022 SPS.

DID MY STRATEGY WORK?

I often use the range type unit strategy in my battles. I mostly win using this strategy but there are times where I was defeated due to the great strategy of the opponent.

For this battle, my strategy was efficiently conducted. Although some of the abilities of my summoner was countered by the enemy summoner, it still leads to my win by choosing the right units in its full potential given by the ruleset which has become one of the important factors for me to win.
