Hello Guys!
I'm back again with my Splinterlands post. I didn't expect that the theme of the Splinterlands Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge for this week would be Grund. It's not long since I posted my piece of writing that also talks about Grund, which I titled GRUND, The Destroyer!. Of course I will accept this challenge happily because it is not difficult to find the right battle to use this monster.
Well, I'm neither a proplayer nor a tournament hero. I just enjoys sharing strategy and battles that I find interesting in my own view. If my previous Grund post was about a battle with Grund in the Diamond league, then the battle I will share now is Grund on the Gold league.
GRUND
If we read Grund's Lore, we will know that he is a loving monster. Love all the creatures and people in Praetoria.
Grund has spent his entire life in the lowlands of Praetoria and has grown to love the land and its people. First introduced to the lore of battle as a hatchling, he has studied it ever since with enthusiasm. When he became a juvenile his hands found steel, an old rusting sword abandoned and forgotten in the swamp by some intrepid explorer. Before long it became an extension of himself as he applied all he had learnt, quickly mastering blade work. From then on, he became obsessed with the art of armed combat and he practised with any weapons he could get his hands on.
When he first met Bera Dallin in New Everitt he couldn’t help but marvel at her martial prowess. After having spent some time with her he became proficient in the use of the warhammer. His great strength meant that he could hold one in a single hand and so it wasn’t long before he acquired another and began to dual wield them in combat.
Grund is well loved amongst the people of Praetoria and he is a staunch defender of them, his strong ideals of honour and justice infused within in from a young age. When he heard of the Chaos Legion invasion, Grund took up his hammers in anger and sought them out immediately.
Grund can act as a defender and attacker with his stats ability. Grund has 10 mana with Double Strike ability which has been active since level 1. Increase in stats from Grund is also quite good, where at level 4 other ability active is Trample ability and at max level will be active Cripple's ability.
We will see Grund more often in which high battles because Grund's own capacity is quite large, but it is possible that there is also a low or middle battle whose rulesets can match Grund and make Grund the MVP, like the battle with Grund that I previously shared, where Grund really became a Destroyer because of stampede rulesets in the middle mana battle.
STRATEGY AND LINE-UP
The rulesets in this battle are:
- Fire and Regret (All Monsters have the Return Fire ability)
- Unprotected (Monsters do not have any Armor, and do not get Armor from abilities or Summoners Buffs)
- Equalizer (The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.)
- Mana Capacity 34
- Active Element Water, Earth, Life, and Dragon.
In general, the strategy I apply is to adjust the rulesets above, namely by minimizing the use of Range monsters because all monsters get the Return Fire ability, and several strategies to deal with Equalizer rulesets, including:
- Focuses the attack on a single target, so that the target can die in one round.
- Fill all the slots, even though you have to deal with attacks with some low mana monsters.
- Try using Support Thank Heal Monster.
- Try using Support Affliction Monsters.
The line-up and strategy of each monster that I choose in my formation will be explained in the table below:
Monster | Position | Abilities | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Quix The Devious | Summoner | -1 Range, -1 Speed | Dragon Summoner, which will Summon monsters from dragon elements and other elements. Gives -1 Range and -1 Speed debuffs to all opposing monsters. |
Grund | First (Tank, Attacker) | Double Strike, Trample | Grund, who doesn't have Armor from the beginning, is suitable to be a Tank as well as an Attackker in this battle. I use Grund level 4 whose Trample ability is already active and can compete in the Gold league, although not max level league. Double Strike ability makes this monster have 8 melee attacks in one attack. Of course this will be very much an attacker, especially in this battle all monsters do not have Armor, it could be that the Trample ability will be active veverapakali in one match |
Chaos Agent | Second (Second Tank) | Dodge, Phase | Which monster 1 as a complement as well as the second Tank, if Grund dies will replace Grund as a Tank. Even though it doesn't have an attack, this monster is quite good as a tank because it has a high chance miss from both melee, range, and magic attacks because of its Dogde and Phase abilities. |
Oshuur Constantia | Third (Attacker, Support) | Resurrect, Reflection Shield, Thank Heal | Is a Dragon monster that has abilities as Support, that's Resurrect and Thank Heal. The first dead monster will be revived by Resurrect, and Thank Heal will keep the first monster from becoming a powerful tank because of the Restore HP that each round is given. This monster also has the Reflection Shield ability which means blast and reflect magic do not apply to this monster. |
Goblin Psychic | Fourth (Attacker, Support) | Thank Heal, Affliction, Silent | Earth Common Monster that has the ability as support, Thank Heal and Affliction at the same time. Just like Oshuur Constantia, the Thank Heal ability will keep the monster in the first position to Restore HP in each round, and also Affliction if it hits the target then the target cannot be healed anymore. As an attacker, he has 2 magic attacks, which is quite helpful to give attacks to opponents. |
Doctor Blight | Fifth (Attacker, Support) | Affliction, Camouflage, Poison, Scavenger | Low mana monsters are often the MVP of low and middle mana battles because of their abilities. Just like Goblin Psychic which has Affliction, but it can be chance affliction hits a bigger target because Doctor Blight is a Legendary monster. In addition, Posion if it hits the target, each round of the target will lose 2 HP, which means that this monster can have 4 attacks in one hit. Scavenger ability makes this monster's HP continue to increase if there are other monsters that die. Even more special, this monster has Camouflage ability which makes this monster can only be attacked if it is in the first position. |
Naga Assasin | Last (Tank, Attacker) | Backfire | Sau-the only range of monsters with mana 2 and Backfire. This monster has a very high speed feature in the Backfire series, so the chances of missed attacks will be better and also Backfire will also be useful. The posiinya is the rearmost, which means that this monster is also the target of Sneak Monster attacks. |
The picture below is the line-up of the two teams. The opponent also uses Summoner Quix The Devious combined with Water monster. The tank of the opponent's formation is the Void Dragon which has the abilities of Flying, Void and Phase. In second place is Djinn Oshanus who has the abilities of Void, Phase, and Forcefield. It seems that the opponent is very prepared for magic attacks.
In third place is Deeplurker who has 3 melee attack damage. In the fourth position, there is a monster sneak from Dragon element, Dhampir Infiltrator which has the ability Double Trike and Cripple. In fifth place is the Mardaali Guardian monster support which has Repair and Thank Heal abilities. And the last position is sneak monster Pelacor Bandit with 3 melee attacks.
BATTLEFIELD ARENA
I've also included a youtube video of this battle that you can play right away.
The battle requires 6 rounds to determine the winner. I think the strengths of the two teams are quite evenly matched, with their respective strategies. This battle is quite interesting because Grund's Trample is active in almost every round. Due to the difference in speed that bears from some monsters, there are several attacks that miss hitting the target, be it Melee attacks, or Magic. Grund really showed entertaining attractions in this battle, and revealed his role as the main actor in this battle.
The first round begins with the giving of buffs and debuffs from all summoners and monsters. The speed of my monsters is on average lower than that of the opponent's monsters. Even so, my Dragon Assasin became the first monster to get a chance to attack. Grund's second attack missed to hit the Void Dragon . The attacks from Dhampir Infiltrator also all failed to hit the Assassin Dragon and the attacks reversed the direction of the Backfire ability. At the end of the first round, Void Dragon received an Affliction from Goblin Psychic.
Early in the second round the Assasin Dragon died due to a Pelacor Bandit attack, but resurrect by Oshuur Constantia. Void Dragon died from Grund's attack, and immediately activated the Trample ability, so Grund continued to attack Djinn Oshanus. In the end, the Assasin Dragon died due to the attack of Dhampir Infiltrator. Grund's HP returns full after getting 2x Heal, and the end of this round is Goblin Psychic's Affliction regarding Djinn Oshanus.
Since the start of the third round, we are immediately treated to an interesting scene, namely Grund's attack that killed Djinn Oshanus and the Trample ability is active again so that it continues to attack the Deeplurker. At the end of this round, HP Grund is back in full.
The fourth round begins with the Goblin Psychic dying from a Pelacor Bandit attack. Wow, Grund returned to action, after his attack killed Deeplurker, continued to attack Dhampir Infiltrator who also died immediately in one attack, continued to attack Mardaali Guardian.
Early in the fifth round, Mardali Guardian died from Grund's attack, Grund's Trample returned to activity and continued to attack the Pelacor Bandits. Unfortunately, his attack missed the mark. Doctor Blight's Poison hits the Pelacor Bandit.
Finally, this battle ended in the sixth round after the Pelacor Bandit also died due to Grund's attack. I won with 4 monsters left. You can see the final result of this battle in the picture below.
SRATEGY DISCUSSION
The strategy I implemented worked very effectively in this battle. One of the keys to my victory is Trample Grund which is active many times, so in one round, Grun can deliver up to 12 attacks, even more. Affliction from Goblin Psychic is also one of the determinants of victory, because after the target is hit by Affliction, it cannot be healed. Maybe Mardaali Guardian is so upset because of this, hahaha.
Attacks from opponents are also divided, from the front and back directions, I think this is a mistake if done to the Equalizer rulesets. Perhaps this strategy is effective on normal rulesets, because usually the monsters in the back position are monsters that have small HP.
