HTH Initial Results: Maintaining the Floor
By now all Splinterlands players must be aware of the success of the first Auction card created and launched by the team: Heloise the Hollow! I am calling her HTH for a while now. It is a auction that happens every 25 hours, and every 20th is a gold foil. We just finished the 20th and the first gold foil auction. Congrats to @cryptomancer for winning the GF HTH for a whopping 14 Million DEC. If I plot that on this chart of regular foils below it will mess the chart up, so that is saved for a different chart later.
So, this above is the sold price of the first 19 cards. The reason, I plotted it this way to show the absolute minimum price, which is 1,050,000 DEC, marked by the dashed yellow line; and also the 'floor' price, which you can call the base of the most common price, which is the green dashed line at 1,320,000 DEC.
Not surprisingly, the spread is fairly low, and the average is very close of 1,320,000; the price that I paid for my second copy :) This is very standard, as I was trying to control the floor of this auction, and so far looks like I have been rather successful! The reason to do this, is if you don't then many bad actors, and trust me there are always a lot of bad actors, who will try and snipe a copy at a relatively low price. So I have decided that I am not going to let that happen. My job is easier now, as 20 copies have been sold, and now many owners of the HTH will feel the same way I feel, and they won't let people to get one at cheap prices.
HTH is an exclusive card, so cough up top dollars!
Here is all 20, with the last one obviously GF with the 14M DEC bid from Mancer. There is no way to set floor easily for GF, as there is so little data. However, I assumed 5X the RF as a floor, and I have been able to maintain it. As time goes on, I am sure other winners will take the responsibility of maintaining the floor.
PS: Thank you Tehox | Splintercards.com for the data
1.3M seems a little high for the floor. I was thinking closer to 1.1M
Of course someone had to help for the floor, so why wouldn't it be the Clint Eastwood of Hive Blockchain 😄 I have a few numbers I prefer to target later in the auction. Excited for the next few months!
I think it can self adjust closer to that number during later part of December
One can hope... good thing my preferred numbers are higher up in count. I wonder if people's wallets will get tired of holding up the floor? Maybe you will go on vacation?
I wonder what the second gold will go for.
I will try and set a 5M floor again :)
I'm amazed at the insane prices. For 11k one can already build a decent deck or even two decks. This shows that people are not yet done spending on Splinterlands and will continue to support upcoming sets. I'm now positive on the upcoming Conclave Arcana.
I could build a deck around my house to enjoy in the summer! ;D
yeah, but can that deck fight? :)
yes, one can build 2 max deck for $11K, but the person who bought it already have multiple max decks, isn't it?
Oh, that's why. 😀
What? it is so expensive to all the normal Splinterland players like me, congrats to all with this kind of cards, the game is defined by this kind of card in the game.
yes, it is expensive, very expensive. So DAO will be earning a lot of money from this sale.
Yeah this is good for all of us and for the game.
That GF card on auction was pretty sexy looking, but at something like 5m DEC, there was no way I was going to be able to afford to bid on it. The fact that it ended up selling or 14m even more so!
I am rather satisfied with the price it finally sold. High price is a good advertisement!
Good point!
I replied on a tweet by spsdao and sure enough it's over 9,0000! Gz @cryptomancer!
SPL is lucky to have people like you willing to act as stabilizing agent for the auction.
Great job maintaining the floor!
The headline that a single card was bought for over eleven thousand dollars is awesome for marketing.
That's absolutely bonkers to see these going for $1,000+ per card!
However, I love to see it as that shows there are plenty of people willing to put large sums of money into this game :)
Was checking on the bid price of GF Heloise until the last second to see if there will be other players that will snipe the bid from cryptomancer and surprise! He was outbid by himself.
This auction has been a smashing success in my opinion. I wasn’t sure how it would be received but the interest has been impressive. To think we’re only 20% of the way is exciting as we’ve already locked up almost 40M DEC. It’s great seeing the team try new things and them working out!
If the avg prices are mantained till the end of the auction, we might come really close to put almost 200M DEC in the DAO... and that just for 1 card (ok, with 100 copies, but still is 1 card)!
That is a lot of money. We could live from that money for a good while. For me big splinterlands purchase is around 30-40 dollars worth. But it is nice to see how much other people are willing to invest.
we only needs more players and that's the biggest challenge this game has. Many indicators, such as this auction, shows that this game is still strong.
I hope people can let go of their baseless negativity towards Splinterlands. Well there are some disappointments there, and it is not perfect, but it is still great!!
Its definetely a card out of my reach but im still happy the sale is this succesful.
You better dont let it go under 1m or I might grab one :P
🤑 Much money
Surly I cant afford this so no need trying. But the prize is way expensive. And I bet after this splinterland will come up with yet another update
