Unlocking
Okay, as you all know Splinterlands recently allowed 'unlocking' of the Chaos Legion Soulbound (CL-SB) cards. They also launched the new Rebellion SB cards.
The CL-SB cards can now be unbound using the following published schedule.
Additionally, every 30 days, the price to unbind a card will increase by a multiple of one.
Day 1-29: 10 times the card's power in DEC
Day 30-59: 11 times the card's power in DEC
Day 60-89: 12 times the card's power in DEC
Day 90-119: 13 times the card's power in DEC
Day 120-149: 14 times the card's power in DEC
Day 150-179: 15 times the card's power in DEC
There is a counter at the unbind page that gives an idea how long is the window of opportunity when the card can be unbound, after that the card is permanently soulbound.
There are two choices currently, well three really!:
- Unbind the card and sell, rent, or use it in an alt account if you need
- Burn the card for glint, which you can use to get new reward cards
- Do nothing!
Also there are 3 ways to pay the unlock fee:
- DEC
- DEC-B
- Credit!!
I don't currently have much DEC and have absolutely no DEC-B. Thankfully, and I almost missed it, I can pay the unlock fee using Credit. This is what I have been doing. I can purchase credits using paypal, and credit is available readily.
On my main account I have a full set of CL-SB cards, and some extras. I am planning on unlocking some of the extra legendaries to transfer to my Silver-Gold-Diamond level account that sometimes I play manually. That way I will have all the critical cards to play.
Glint: How much do I need?
This I do not know to be sure, but my friend Vugtis did the calculation below
mathematically to max 1 set = ~9M GLINT (not counting chest, since chest has better EV, the number will be likely less)
9M / 24 (24 seasons/12 months) = 375k / season
Summary:
If you can earn about 375k/season, you will be able to complete the reward set within 1 year
Average champion can reach this amount without buying energy.
By setting average champion (lower end of champion) as the baseline :
5k rating champion will get it lesser than 1 year
Gold level player won't be able to complete it within 1 year without buying energy.
Currently on my main account I have little more than 6M Glint. I am in no rush. As per Vugtis I will likely have a full Rebellion Reward card set in 12 months, likely less than that.
If you wait to long before unbinding your soul-bounds then the floor price of the card on the market will increase to keep pace with the unbind price.
Take this time to figure out what cards you want to unbind and do it sooner rather than later.
I have been doing trades with my Adelaide buddies for a few spares I need and they have, I send them the DEC for the unbind and they send me the cards.
yeah mostly unlock legendaries, rest of the extras burn for glint
Summoners, I think will be most valuable, bringing in a gladiator will usually win a battle.
Enjoyed your interview on the podcast, I will take your suggestions on board, perhaps describe my Australian suburban street
much appreciated! one person at a time!
Nice! I can't afford to unlock any! I should look into selling some grain to get the DEC I need.
then you have to consider the 'burn for glint option'
Very nice! I think the best thing Splinterlands really has going for it is the ease of getting cash into the game via credits.
Yes. That is the fastest way to move Fiat into the game/crypto
Wow 9M glint is way out of my reach. I did burn all of my extras for glint, and am just trying to get a copy of each rebellion card for now. If you have a lot of extra cards, I think there are some people in the Discord looking to buy SB cards from players.
I'm quite shocked to see more than 1 post a month from you😂😂😂
Didn't know about the currency glint...
Well as I'm not yet a player I guess there are plenty things about the game I'm not knowledgeable about...
Between Glint, Dec and Credits, which currency is higher..
I will definitely not use unbinding to speculate in any big way, for me it mainly about building up my playing deck
I think I will mainly unbind cards that I need to send from my alt to my main to gain max lvl.
After that I will unbind some of the good common cards at 1 BCX, like the Martyr cards, the Costal Sentry and the Swamp Spitter and that death guy with protect. These I will hold on to to rent in the future or possibly sell down the road if they prove worth it.
I have a couple of GFL Iziars , and while its a great card, I will probably burn it for Glint to get more of the new reward cards.
my priority with DEC is picking up the amazing Untamed bargains on the market right now, I can't believe the prices these are going for, they will be key cards in wild
Was looking for such a glint calculations, thanks @vugtis, that helps with a ballpark figure.
Currently not hitting 375K glint per season 🤣. Last two season i manage to get that much with buying energy.
Is it better to buy chests or card draws in your or vugtis opinion, to complete the set as soon as possible?
Buying more SPS to boost my glint earnings, bit by bit. Only some whales are pushing price higher and higher, just to soon🤣.
It is a powerful set of goals you have written in this article
I am sure you will reach it
Thank you for this informative article. I chose to not unbind my cards
