What is Template and What is not!

I am a Splinterlands content consumer. Meaning, I like all kinds of Splinterlands related content that is published at the Hive Blockchain. I am particularly fond of direct game related content, like battle, strategy, art and discussions about the improvements and economy of the game. Since I am a consumer and reader (among many others), I thought I like to summarize some of my view about 'template' type of writing.

Templates from Google Slides

For many of you, you may not know what template writing even means. So this post is about clearing that up. These are my personal thought process and how I personally like to consume Splinterlands related content. I will start with a simple question that was recently asked off me:

To be honest, I'm still confused about this part (template posting)

Here it comes: Please take a look at the two images below

Do you see the text from the two different posts? They are weekly battle challenge organized by Splinterland, which is a nice effort to encourage users to write gaming related content. However, do you see that this particular user has a 'word template' where he just alters certain words and generates the same content every weeks? Do you see? Let me help you:

After selecting Obsidian as the summoner that offers +1 magic attack, I had Mycelic Morphoid with a melee attack at the 1st position, Regal Peryton with a magic attack & the "Flying" ability at the 2nd position, Khmer Princess with a magic attack at the 3rd position, Queen Mycelia with a magic attack & the "Protect" ability at the 4th position, Creeping Ooze with the "Slow" ability at the 5th position & Djinn Biljka with a magic attack & the "Camouflage" ability at the last position.

After selecting Thaddius Brood as the summoner that offers -1 magic attack and -1 health, then I had Cursed Windeku with 2 melee attacks & the "Thorns" ability at the 1st position, Corrupted Pegasus with 2 melee attacks & "Flying & Reach" abilities at the 2nd position, Death Elemental with a magic attack & the "Snipe" ability at the 3rd position, Undead Badger with a melee attack & the "Sneak" ability at the 4th position & Furious Chicken at the last position.

The user basically have a template that he have been using for ages with just finding and replacing monster names and their ability and write a whole post. Over and over again for weeks!!

As a consumer, do you like to consume this content?

I don't!

Do you think this is adding any value to the game or blockchain?

I don't!

Increasing word count: Size Matters?

The same user (also many other users) uses the pictures of monsters from Splinterlands image database like below. They add the same generic text next to it (again a template) just to increase word count. Because someone sometimes told them that size matters. I see no value in them either. Especially when used over and over again. Gamers already know their cards, you don't need to show them to us over and over again.

These big picture are unnecessary, especially, if you used it over and over again

Is there any Splinterlands content that is new and Unique?

Yes there are many. Do you see the dividers I am using on these post? They are by freezetag. I find them fresh and very visually soothing. Not to mention they are new and unique.

I find the strategy posts by ace Japanese Silver League player ueyuey refreshingly original and 100% useful. I have personally used those teams even in the champion leagues successfully.

I have found star-shroud's brawl reports new and highly valuable. He is a new user. Investing in cards. Owns cards, and writing new content.

I find kalkulus's mana calculation statistics highly useful. I wish he publishes more!

These are just some examples. No way this is a comprehensive list. The actual list will be pages long hopefully. We must support these new players and content creators. Distributing the hive rewards far and wide should be the key. Not to support reward pool abusers for personal gain is also the key.

Thank you for creating this post! You've shown great examples that can help users create more valuable and interesting content!
It's true, a high word count does not necessarily make for great content. I have seen some valuable and helpful posts with a lower word count. As a reader, I tend to prefer posts that are relatively short, concise, and to the point.
I do like images though, they help to beautify a post.
But I guess too many images just to make a post seem longer isn't a good thing.

I like images to beautify posts too. I use them myself as needed. However not the same image over and over again. Meaning if I do a battle post I see no need to closeup 6 of my card and 6 of my opponents card in every post :) that's just silly :)

Oh Hello my dear, is this post hate speech already? Words are violins you know

The Blogging Site of the HIVE Blockchain is constantly under attack by professional multi-account shaitpost morons. It's hard to defend, that's for sure. I think a lot of posts are at least partly written by AI. It's getting wild on Chain.

But some people do create generally super great content, love to see those.

Lol! Hate and me? Nevah!

Love is da wae brotha!! :)

Well funny that when I show this "only then" they realize oh this is a mistake! They didn't know this before. Their eyes are open now! Yeah, right!

I do believe that a lot of people would like to be a real social web3 pioneer, but don't seem to find the right way for themselves.

Maybe a writing contest on splinterlands would unearth more such authors dada. Lot of people have potential but may get stuck in the template loop due to lack of a little push.

In this case you know the person and he has no hope. But yes, many others might. I still remember some of your legendary posts on Splinterlands!

Oh how I miss those days dada :(

We miss you too doc..

Getting back in the groove slowly bro!

This is definitely a useful post because it's an incentive to get better at writing and to focus on the usefulness and content of a post more than its form, which is important but not as important as the content.
When you write often and for a long time on the same topic it can be easy for everyone to lose the reader's point of view that should always be the goal of every post.
It's never easy to receive criticism under a post especially here on Hive where the climate of collaboration and education is very high (and that's why I like Hive) but I think that criticism always helps to grow.
For example, every month I write a report in which I analyze Splinterlands only from a financial point of view. The post takes me a long time to do the calculations and I like to write it also because it has the purpose to promote Splinterlands outside of Hive but sometimes I honestly asked myself "but will my readers like it?" or is it "useful to my readers?".
Here I think the questions you put in your post:

As a consumer, do you like to consume this content?
Do you think this is adding any value to the game or blockchain?
Increasing word count: Size Matters?

are questions that should always be asked of ourselves when writing a post and I will try to always do that before writing a post.
Thanks for this informative post and for pointing out some really good authors that I will gladly follow and you're right those dividers are really cool and I'm going to start using them too.
@tipu curate

Thank you for your kind words.

I think we are in this together, we should take both positive and constructive feedback. None of us are perfect. It is often that many don't understand the big picture. It is our duty to raise questions and help to add value to this blockchain.

Excellent information, the images of the post is something that beautifies the publication and is something that adds quality, but each of us can have the creativity to highlight battles with strategies and other topics without following a template pattern.

Good job.

Yes picture does beautify, however, like everything else in life, we can consider using it in moderation.

That's right, the idea is to highlight originality, with this and many other supporting contents, we will be able to improve the contents of the community.

Read the one with the Great UeyUey too, his content is good

And an awesome player too!

Yeah, i can only win into him once in a hundred, luckily that once happen before those 90 loss. I still got that battle in one of my post of ruler of the sea, to have a remembrance into it.

Yeah. Big fan!

Your this post in particular is help for me in many ways. Thank you for sharing. A blog size don't matter but quality do. Now I better understand why bdcommunity mostly have blog size 500 at max. A well detailed review on the subject. !1UP

Well that's mostly a movement. We will see how that evolves in time. In the meantime, get out there. Staying in front of a computer doesn't accomplish much

Noted! Wasn't expecting that as a reply. xD
Thank you for actually caring for us.

I remember my first posts and compare them to today, and I see a clear evolution. In addition to publishing, it's important that people learn from their mistakes and continually improve their content.

Thanks for sharing this knowledgeable post here and I appreciate you for this. I also would like to share something cool about the templates, fonts, and web design solutions. You just need to visit https://masterbundles.com/ for more information regarding this source and it would be a very useful source for you.

Template is a wordpress template which has been used in websites for a long period of time. There are many theme providers on the market who sell templates to be used on your website. I prefer to get https://www.roofpaintingauckland.co.nz/ and learn more new tips for roof washing. A template is an ideal way to give your site a complete look, while still being very flexible.
