Hey friends
Tournaments in Splinterlands offer an excellent opportunity to test your skills, improve your strategy, and win prizes. If you're new to tournaments, these tips will help you maximize your chances and enjoy the experience.
Tournaments are divided into two main modes:
Modern: You can only use cards from the most recent editions.
Wild: You can use any available cards, with certain restrictions depending on the tournament.
Tip: If you have a larger and more diverse collection, Wild tournaments can give you an advantage. If your collection is limited, Modern tournaments can level the playing field.
To enter a tournament, you will be required to meet certain Collection Power requirements. This depends on the type of tournament (Modern or Wild). Please note that Gladiator cards and cards wagered on lands do not count towards these requirements.
Tip: Before you register, be sure to check your collection power in relation to the type of tournament. Use rental cards if necessary to meet the requirements.
There are several types of tournaments in Splinterlands, each with different rules and dynamics:
- Open Tournaments: All players receive the same set of cards, meaning that skill is more important than card collection.
Tip: Participate in these tournaments to improve your strategy and knowledge of the game, as all players have equal access to cards.
- Anytime Tournaments: These allow you to send your teams whenever it is convenient for you, within a set period.
Tip: Manage your time wisely. Make sure you don't miss the time window to send your teams or your battles will be considered automatic losses.
- Single Elimination: In these tournaments, you must be registered and "checked in" before the tournament begins. They are intense and require quick preparation.
Tip: Make sure you are present and ready at the exact time to avoid being eliminated before you start. Study your opponents before the tournament starts.
- Sit-and-Go Tournaments: These start immediately once the minimum number of players is reached. They are quick and usually for small groups.
Tip: These tournaments are great for quick matches. If you have limited time, look into them as an option to participate more quickly.
Some tournaments require players to meet certain prerequisites, such as being on a Discord server or having a specific minimum amount of cards.
Tip: Carefully read the details of each tournament before registering to make sure you meet all the requirements. Failure to do so could result in your entry fee being forfeited.
If you are interested in organizing tournaments, you can do so through the Splinterlands interface. While you cannot create Open Tournaments unless you are part of the Splinterlands team, you can customize tournaments with rules and prizes to your liking.
Tip: Use this option if you want to promote a project, brand, or just to organize tournaments between friends or community.
Tournaments not only offer you the chance to win prizes, but they are also a great way to learn and hone your strategy.
Tip: Watch the games of more experienced players. Learn from their moves and strategies, especially in open tournaments where everyone has access to the same cards.
Ultimately, the main goal of tournaments is to have fun and improve. Every match, even the losses, will teach you something new about the game and other players' strategies.
Tip: Don't get frustrated if you lose. Use each loss as an opportunity to improve and come back stronger in the next tournament.
With this guide, you'll be better prepared to face the challenges of tournaments in Splinterlands. Good luck in your battles!
