Introduction
With the latest update, Practice Mode got a full makeover and is now called Training Mode!
Official Release Notes:
🏋️♂️ Training Revamped!
🔹 Practice Mode has been replaced with a new Training Mode, where you can queue against automated opponents at different skill levels: Easy, Medium, or Hard.
🔹 It works like Challenges, allowing you to choose between playing with your own cards or using a Ghost set (which gives access to all cards).
So, what’s new? Let’s break it down!
Getting Back Into Training
I’ll be honest—I haven’t used the old Practice Mode in ages. Ranked battles have always been my main training ground. But with these updates, Training Mode now offers a much better way to test strategies against AI opponents.
Instead of random matchups, you can now choose your difficulty:
✅ Easy – Great for learning the basics.
✅ Medium – A balanced challenge.
✅ Hard – Test yourself against a stronger AI!
Where to Find the New Training Mode
The new Training Mode is right next to the Challenges button in the main menu.
Click on it, and you’ll see all the available options!
Game Settings & Customization
When setting up a match, you have several choices to customize your training experience:
1️⃣ Choose Your Difficulty
- Easy
- Medium
- Hard
2️⃣ Choose Your Card Pool
You can decide which cards are available in your training match:
All Cards (Wild) – Use any cards you own, rent, or have delegated.
Modern – Only the latest two editions: Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers, and Rebellion.
Ghost Cards (ALL) – Play with every card in the game, even if you don’t own them!
Ghost Cards Modern – All Modern-format cards, even if you don’t own them.
These ghost cards are perfect for testing new strategies and synergies before committing DEC to rentals or purchases!
3️⃣ Summoner Level Caps
Each difficulty setting has different level restrictions for Summoners and Monsters. Here’s how they scale:
Difficulty | Common | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
---|---|---|---|---|
Beginner | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Adapt | 3 | 2 | 2 | 1 |
Intermediate | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 |
Advanced | 8 | 6 | 5 | 3 |
Expert | Max | Max | Max | Max |
This scaling allows players to train at different progression levels, making it easier to prepare for ranked matches at your current league.
Testing Some Matches in Training Mode
Now it’s time to put Training Mode to the test and see how the AI stacks up!
Match 1 – Easy | Ghost Cards (All) | Expert Summoner Caps

🎯 Results: Victory! ✅
Even with three different rulesets, the match wasn’t too bad. The AI at Easy difficulty doesn’t put up much resistance, so it’s a good way for new players to practice different strategies.
So far, 1 out of 1 wins!
Match 2 – Medium | Wild Ghost Cards | Expert Summoner Caps

This one caught me off guard! 😲 My opponent used a smart strategy to debuff my magic attackers, and I ended up losing the match.
💡 Lesson learned: Even Medium AI can punish bad team compositions, so I’ll have to be more careful next time.
Win rate so far: 1 out of 2 matches.
Match 3 – Hard | All Ghost Cards | Expert Summoner Caps

This was my chance to finally use Byzantine Kitty—a card I never get to play with! 😍 That’s one of the coolest things about Training Mode: you can try out cards you don’t own.
🔥 Battle results? Victory! ✅ And honestly, beating a bot actually felt good. 😂
Final Score: 2 wins, 1 loss (66% win rate!)
Better quit while I’m ahead before my luck runs out! 🤣
Final Thoughts
The revamped Training Mode great wat to experiment. You can:
✅ Test new decks without renting cards
✅ Train against AI of different skill levels
✅ Play with Ghost Cards to experiment with new strategies
✅ Prepare for ranked matches at your league level
Whether you’re a new player looking to improve or a veteran testing high-level strategies, this mode is a great way to refine your skills without risking rating points.
