This is my part for the Community Engagement Challenge: https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/splinterlands-community-engagement-challenge-support-articles-so1m6f
With Rebellion, a new era has started amongst the summoners of Splinterlands. Instead of just more or less incredible buffs, one can now choose between different buffs, and use certain abilities in certain set-ups.
There are many incredibly summoners now, and some of them are a little overpowered. I have two that I like to play a lot – one is Max Pruitt, a card that I got into detail on here: Click here for an analysis of Max Pruitt
The other is Akane, the Dragon Summoner. Unlike the other OP-Legendary rebellion summoners, Akane only gives tactical buffs, like the rare-summoners for other splinters. You can either choose between giving 2 units “Ambush”, or giving one unit “Lookout”.
I regularly use ambush, but here’s the use case for lookout, first – use it in the rulesets that give units either Snipe, Opportunity or Sneak. Since Akane works with Dragons, you can choose another splinter to combine it with, which is very useful. For example, the Thanalorian Scion is a great card to use in all three rulesets – it has only 1 LP, but 10 void armor, so basically 11 LP. Opportunity units attack it certainly.
If positioned correctly, also snipe (Scion to be first non-melee) and sneak (Scion in the rear) monsters. With Akane, you can give the unit next to the Scion Lookout, and the Scion will a) get 1 damage less from attacks from the opportunity, sneak and snipe, and b) the whole team will take half the damage from Ambush. When placing correctly, Lookout is very powerful.
As mentioned I prefer Ambush. It can be even more powerful. Funny enough, I just finished a Rebellion Tournament, with Akane battling Akane – and me using the Thanalorian Blade (not the Scion 😜 ), which has lookout: Click here for the whole battle
Both my opponent and I gave ambush to our Reapers, which attacked the other reaper – but mine did the double damage, while the enemy’s Reaper only did “normal” damage due to the Lookout in my team. Same goes for the damage from the Quilliun Legionnaire. Besides the advantage in levels, my team won just due to that initial difference – and take into account that the Blade was actually a suicide unit, due to the Thorns-Ruleset. But the Lookout really paid off.
Unfortunately, I didn’t record that Tactic Stage of this particular battle, but here's another one. It usually it works like this:
You choose your summoner and your team as usual. After clicking on “Battle”, you’ll be redirected to the Tactics stage and be able to choose your abilities.
Click on the ability that you want to use, and the cards that are available to give them to will glow – yes, you can also give them to enemies, which in specific moments is actually a great strategy. I once got obliterated by being casted Taunt on my strongest unit, and the enemy having 2 Fury units.
Click on the units you want to give the ability to, and the ability icon will appear above the card. If you want to remove it, click again on the same card.
Click on “Battle” before the timer reaches 0!
The Tactic-Summoner that is most used by many players is Tofu – he is really, really strong and is hard to counter.
BIG EDIT! The battle I used to explain how the Tactic-Part works, actually resulted into a battle between Akane and TOFU - love this coincidence :-D here's the battlelink: Click me to see Akane beating Tofu
Using another Tactic Summoner might help – Renkah. Renkah can give Reflection Shield to 2 units, so they don’t get hit by the Thorns that Tofu provides. Another one is the combination of Max Pruitt and the Corsair Bosun, as you can see here: https://next.splinterlands.com/battle/sm_odwTZQs2SANzZMqII5oK?ref=beelzael
Still, many of the legendary Tactic Summoners are very hard to beat. You won’t succeed every time, but that makes every win against them even more special :-)
