Training Mode went online!

There was always one downturn on the Challenge-Mode, which already was and is very cool - you need a human opponent to challenge, who has time to practice with you. If you're the only one in your circle of friends who is "that weirdo that plays something like Pokemon online" (Pokemon! They don't even know Magic the Gathering in Ecuador! Dissapointing...), well it sometimes is difficult with the time differences between me and my fellow weirdos.

Also, until now, I only had the chance of learning by loosing against the big girls and boys in tournaments, those who have Tofu. On top, I could only build strategies on new cards after renting or buying them - hence losing a few battles on the way, with that losing SPS/Glint. Solution? Training Mode!

Access

As well super easy. Right upper corner, right below your name - at least in my view. Between Challenge and How To Play.

Window opens! Select your favorite - I play Modern Advanced (formerly known as Gold) in my guild now, so I have to train that. Since I usually win 60% and lose 40% of my brawl battles, I put the difficulty to hard. I'm a decent player, though not stellar, and I want to compete well.

Let's send in the training - request!

That's the rules - just like in a normal match. You can even see the teams that the bot tends to use. So, wanna see the battle?

How good is the bot?

I wanted to test the bot for real, and had a couple of beer before doing this (around 1,4 liters of 4,5% alcohol), plus my daughter is distracting me a little - I'm not on top of my game here! But that is the idea.

Click here for the Battle link - yes, that's possible, too! You can share your training and confer with others!

So, the bot has all cards available, it basically plays Advanced/Gold-Ghost. I do not. Still, at first glance, the bot makes 2 mistakes. Using Baakjira gives my whole team a lot of health, due to Equalizer. Also, it uses Hellondale without any Melee-Monsters.

I use the Shaman as a tank (due to Equalizer), Sentry in reach with double strike, Raider in Third with double strike (and reach!), then Hellondale (to support my melees, I do have them) to revive the Shaman with its void armor intact, then the poisonous Uraeus, and in the end Dr. Blight (one of my favorite purchases).

By the way, I'm writing this as I am watching the battle, and yes, the beer is kicking in, I should've eaten something. You won't notice, but I'll take dinner break now, the little one is hungry. Also, she voted for Commander Slade instead of the Warborn Shaman. Taking into account the amount of Magic Damage and the lack of Melee/Range damage, I'm glad I didn't listen to a 6 year old.

In Round one, Baakjira falls, but gets revived. Since he slows my team the second range attack on him fails. No poison yet, but the Giant Killer of Swampspitter is not good for the Shaman, since it costs 10 Mana - so do the other units following :-(

The Shaman falls, but has taken a lot of damage - it has done it's part. Oshannus gets beaten up quite a bit, down to 8 LP, despite its high speed. No poison on the Spitter yet. Come on, Uraeus!

I hate forcefield. My Sentry does not do much - but the Drybone has double attack with reach now, so quadruple attack. Oshannus is down! But Kye has alread 18 LP. Not fun. BUT - it gets poisoned by Blight! Yeah!

Still no poison on the spitter... Sentry is going down this round. Not good. Even before it can attack, due to Giant Killer. Dang. Kye survives. Let's skip a few incredibly cool rounds, oh my, this is more exciting than I had imagined!

Round 7. 3 vs 3. Swamp Spitter is about to go down. Hope! The enemy Hellondale gets poisoned! Awesome! I might win against this... Bot? My Hellondale gets poisoned as well, but the LP and AP are in my favor.

Uraeus falls in Round 12. It's a poisoned 8 LP Blight against a fresh 27 LP Blight after that. I got this.

Conclusion

Wow, that was fun. The bot used quite a nice set-up, very powerful, but the two mistakes might have cost it the game. Also, I wonder how it uses Tofu and all the other Tactic-Summoners, since even the paid-for Wild-Battle-Bots sometimes struggle with that. I'll have to try that a little more I think. And yes, I do love to be able to test my strategies against some decent bots.

Definitely going for more, this experience got me hooked!
