During the whole Rebellion War I got lucky once – and that was for Max Pruitt. Okay, Tofu would’ve been even more awesome, but I’ve grown to like Max Pruitte quite a bit. And getting a copy with only 0,28% chance was pretty awesome, too.

He’s a water and life summoner, 7 Mana, and provides +1 Melee and +1 Shield. His tactics are to give either Cleanse and Repair, or Armor Strike and Piercing. I usually opt for the Armor Strike and Piercing, it’s the most useful one on a monster with high melee attack (boosted by Max) and high armor (also boosted by Max).
Here’s a fight to showcase what I mean. It’s 32 Mana, +2 Armor, reach for everyone, and only 4 monsters allowed. A Wild Novice Tournament. Click here for the battle!
The enemy chooses a +1 Magic Damage Dragon Summoner. His first defense is the Halfling Refugee, followed by Baakjira, an amazing tank with anti-magic properties. Then comes the beast – Rage. With the boost, he has 5 magic damage. And with all those extra tanks before him, that should be enough. As a sneak-cover in the rear, they chose the Clockwork Aide – so even more speed for them, and less speed for me. Quite a good line-up.
But now me.
I went for Arkemis as tank. He’s awesome by himself, but he gives 2 extra armor to my team – so now the total is 5 extra armor (1 from Max, 2 from rules, 2 from Arkemis).
Second in line is one of the best monsters for Reach-Ruleset – the Coastral sentry. High damage, and double strike. Now, here comes the best – she gets the armor strike and piercing. So now, she has 4 attacks – two normal melee damage attacks, and two armor strikes. Beast mode!
I was thinking about the Pelacor Bandit in third position, but went for the Merdaali Guardian since it has heal – good choice. In the rear, the Torrent Fiend.
Here goes the battle!
Rage takes down half of Arkemis life points, and the halfling cuts down the armor a bit – but those are their two attackers. Now comes the Coastal Sentry. With one armor strike and one attack she does 10 damage to the Halfling, and he’s gone. She does another 10 damage in total to Baakjira, leaving it with 3 life points. The guardian heals Arkemis up to 8 life points, and Arkemis strikes down Baakjira. That was just the first round. My team dealt 24 damage in total, with just two monsters. See why I like Max?
Second round – Will the speed-boosted Flying Fortress aka Rage avoid my attacks? At least my speed is at normal again, thanks to Baakjira being out of the game.
First, Rage takes another shot at Arkemis, bringing him down to 3 LP. The Coastal Sentry takes its 4 shots at Rage and manages to land 2 of them – that’s 10 damage, the wyrm is down to “only” 9 LP. What a beast! Arkemis gets healed to 6 LP – he will survive one more of Rage’s attacks! But he misses the dragon.
Third round – only 9 damage to deal, and I win! “That’s my cue!” says the Coastal, and “bang bang” he hit the ground. And since the Sentry was at it, it took down the Clockword as well.
So, now you know of the power of Max Pruitt. I might even get 2 more copies in order to have them on Silver Level and use him a little more. Sometimes, even a Silver Level summoner can compete against Gold Level – if you have the right tactic, and Max offers many of those. He’s one of the more underrated Rebellion Legends, besides me, I don’t see him being played very often.
Another great combo to beat Tofu by the way – Max Pruit giving Piercing and Armor Strike to Corsair Bosun – the Corsair has Reflection Shield, high armor, high attack. He can do some serious damage to someone playing Tofu.
Be careful with Corrosive Ward - that might take away a big advantage! Try to always pair Max with either Repair or monsters that boost shields to take maximum advantage.
