Death Splinter - A counter to Magic and everything else

What I like the most with the death splinter is it's versatility. Depending on your summoner, it can either be a strong magic or ranged counter. It has a great lineup of monster selections whether melee, ranged or magic that often comes at low mana costs. This varying style of play makes death one of the more fun to play and very unpredictable cards to summon.

Below we will be highlighting the new meta focusing on the recently launched chaos legion monsters as well as a sample battle highlighting the strengths of this deck.

Anti-Mage Summoner

This deep down analysis starts with Thaddius Brood, one of the strongest counters for magic buffed lineups. Equally important is the minus 1 health to all enemy monsters. This is my summoner of choice as many players in the league often plays magic.

First Position Threat

One of the most mana cost efficient first position tanks in the game right now is the Cursed Windeku. While it may not be tanky, it still has decent survivability due to it's high HP. It has good speed at 3 and also 2 attack. It shines best against melee heroes due to it's thorns ability. All of this for just 6 mana.

Deadly Silence

With Cursed Windeku working on your enemy frontlines, the Silent Sha-Vi provides excellent backline damage with a melee attack of 2. It can also absorb damage and last more rounds than most backlines due to it's 5 hp. 3 speed makes it hit it's mark most of the times. And again all of this for just 5 mana. Definitely worth picking in your lineup.

Life Leech

I said it once and i'll say it again, death splinter has one of the most cost effective cards in the game right now. For just 3 mana, the Life Sapper gives you a magic monster with the life leech ability, give it enough rounds and it will cause up huge problems for your enemy due to it's built up health pool.

Life Leech Supplement

While Venari Bonesmith is not from chaos legions, this is also my favorite cards to pick. This is higher hp version of the life sapper for just one additional mana. Inflict damage, gain health. Rinse and Repeat to Victory.

Battle Analysis

Now let's do a quick analysis with one of my recent matches. Full battle can be viewed here: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_685c3a5a6f77573541a15a96a9465880&ref=beerbod

Pre-Fight - Early Advantage

I came into this match with a big advantage. First, my opponent chose to use a 4 mana summoner. Despite the ruleset being silenced summoner. Second, with no summoner buffs, black splinters usually gain an advantage over other colored splinters.

I decided to go with a full 6 card line-up having decent frontline damage with Cursed Windeku, and backline damage using Silent Sha-Vo, as well as creating insurance with the use of 2 life leech, Venari Bonesmith and Life Sapper.

Round 1

Mid-battle of the first round created a good advantage for me. I eliminated opponents last position card ice pixie in just one hit. I am up now up 6 monsters to 4.
image.png

Round 2

The beginning of the second round shows my Windeku tank left with just 1 health. However, 2 of my life leechers has already gained one health. And having a full lineup meant I still have full frontline, backline as well as snipe damage due to my Death Elemental.
image.png

Seventh move of the round 2 already had my enemy monster count down to just 3 versus my 6. I have a solid advantage as my opponents diemonshark has no armor left and also all of his cards have very low hp by now. I have a comfortable lead.
image.png

Round 3

I lost 2 cards from the previous round, the first and second position. My third position death elemental would also go down at the start of this third round. I would have been in trouble due to the deimonshark's trample ability and it could have kept on attacking if it killed my monsters in one hit. However, my Venari bonesmith has already built up enough health to sustain damage and prevent the trample ability frm triggering multiple time.

image.png

My Venari Boesmith have survived, and even if it didn't i still have 2 cads left with 5 hp each. I could have gone for a couple more round receiving damage but would still end up winning.
image.png

The end of round 3 will have secure my victory and would see me end up with still 3 cards with two of them still at max health.

Here's another battle with no monsters lost. I went up against earth splinter magic buffed lineup. It was a low mana cost battle which saw me getting an easy win https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_95fa507f9c6d1fd61ebe127b823efbbe

I liked your post about Death element but you went off topic for the contest.
My suggestion: If you don't have the card you can rent it or if you don't like the contest card you can make two posts for the Social Media Challenge contest and skip the Share Your Battle contest for a week ;)

i see. yeah you're right i should have just made it under the social media post. thanks so much for your suggestion. :)

Sorry re-reading my message above I misunderstood :)
My suggestions are personal and that's what I do when I don't have a contest card.
If you don't have the card, you can take part in the contest with the card you want, the only thing I think you have to change is the cover, because if you put the image of Giant Rock and then talk about something else, it's a bit out of place.
