In Splinterlands, the amazing play2earn game on the Hive blockchain, owning assets is not just a simple investment, but it's a way of life. Emerging in all the aspects of this ecosystem, will allow any player to explore it and maximize the strategies for earning and strengthening the skills. We must remember that we have crypto tokens, NFT cards, Guilds, Lands and who knows, probably missed few others. What I like about it is that we have all the blockchain technologies gathered into one place and we ever learned from this just by playing the game. This might not seem much in the beginning, but trust me that it is a lot compared to those that do not know anything about blockchain and the assets behind it.
Cryptocurrencies (SPS, DEC, Glint)
Cryptocurrencies in Splinterlands, like SPS, DEC, and Glint, are the fuel for the economy engine from here, with some of them being tradeable (SPS, DEC) and others that can just be used in game, for example to shop Soulbound Rewards cards (Glint). SPS, for instance, is rewarded for winning battles and it is is also a governance token; basically it represents your say in the game’s future and rewards you for participating. DEC is a stablecoin (or one that it tries to be) that lets you dive into the marketplace to trade, upgrade, or even expand your collections. At last, Glint adds another layer of strategic planning by allowing us to get Soulbound Reward cards and other items from the Glint Shop. Having these tokens in your wallet allows you to touch every corner of the game's economy and simple makes you more acknowledgeable about the opportunities from within.
NFT cards (cards, packs)
Owning NFT cards in Splinterlands is like having a treasure chest full of possibilities. Each card isn't just a collectible, it’s a key piece when strategizing on the battlefield, with unique stats, abilities, and rarity. Packs are even more exciting as you never know if you're about to uncover a legendary gold foil card or a rare gem that could change your game forever. And the best part? These assets hold real world value, so you’re not just playing, you’re building yourself a NFT portfolio that you can always trade on the open market (except for reward Soulbound cards).
Workable Lands (land, keep, castle)
When thinking about lands in Splinterlands, that takes the idea of owning assets to a whole new level. Each plot is a virtual real estate, but in the same time it is a production powerhouse where you can generate magical resources including Splintershards (SPS). Owning a keep or castle adds even more influence and boosts your earnings by getting taxes from any other plot in the region, thus giving you a sense of leadership within this virtual world. I mean, how many games let you "work the land" while playing and earning?
Other items (Validation license, Totems)
Beyond the usual assets, items like the Validator Node License and Totems show how Splinterlands keeps innovating. Owning a validation license means you’re literally part of the infrastructure keeping the ecosystem alive, earning rewards for supporting the network (even if this is still a Work In Progress). And Totems? These mystical items add a strategic edge to your Land operations, making them more productive and efficient. It’s crazy how even these little extras can have such a big impact on your journey in the game.
For me Splinterlands is more than just a game, it is a whole ecosystem where everything you own plays a role in your growth and success, both in gaming fun and in earning potential. Whether you’re a casual player or devoted OG, it’s hard not to recognize the way this game turns blockchain concepts into something you live and breathe daily. And let's not forget that Splinterlands was a pioneer in the play2earn blockchain gaming space and that it continues to be an innovator in it. Once you understand this and get to see all that was achieved and that this ecosystem offers, it is hard to walk way. At least that's my case...

Self Custody of crypto Assets is indeed a way of live 🤝🏻😊
Agree with your opinion, all of that is proven and very promising.
SPS is an interesting game with an interesting array of assets to be possessed by it's players. Namely the SPS, DEC, Glint, etc. These assets can make a lot of income for those that invest in them. Thanks for writing and happy new year.
